Both are "planned" for now.. LH434 is not very punctual: per expertflyer only 27% with an avg delay of 41 minutes.
My take: just move quickly to the satellite and it'll be good. Since both are LH flights in one booking, they know you're "around"..

I'll be travelling HEL -> MUC -> ORD in a few days. The flight from Helsinki lands at 14:30, and the flight to ORD departs at 15:35. It looks like the ORD flight is at the L gates, and apparently there's a bus service that replaces the normal "passenger transportation system".
I am not at all familiar with MUC so I'm a little worried - is the bus easy to find and am I going to have enough time?
I didn't book these flights myself and I'm kinda wishing I'd insisted on a longer layover :/

I have a SFO>MUC>VIE flight next month (Lufthansa SFO>MUC and Austrian MUC>VIE) that originally had a 2h20m layover in Munich when booked. Lufthansa changed the SFO>MUC flight once before, and just changed it again so that my layover in Munich is now only 35 minutes. Me and my companion are both booked into business on award seats via Miles & More. Couple questions:
1. Is this a valid connection time according to MCT?
2. Is it advisable to keep this routing or to find a new route? If the latter, what are the rules? Given both are technically partner flights, do I need to stick with Lufthansa/Austrian flights or can I be rebooked onto a Star Alliance flight on another carrier?

If 40 minutes is indeed the MCT for non-Schengen -> Schengen connections (I don't have an EF subscription anymore so cannot check), then you won't be able to check in or travel on your current itinerary. Suggest rebooking now. A later MUC-VIE flight as Fabo.sk suggested is the most sensible option.

That's a good question. I would try Lufthansa first, but there's a good chance they'll send you to M&M. If they do, make sure to make it clear to M&M that this is an involuntary change and you would prefer to travel as ticketed but the change of time means you can't make the connection anymore.

How does transit between terminal 2 and 1 work? Looking at arriving T2 from the USA on UA and connecting to IST on TK from T1. I would be on separate tickets with an under an hour connection, all carry on. Main questions are do I have to go through security? I assume no immigration. How is the physical transit from T2 to T1? Thanks.

Under an hour is VERY tight... US arrivals are considered clean, so in theory no security, but not sure how it is with T2-T1 transit.

Thank you for the response, particularly the length of the bus ride is very helpful. I'm trying to figure out if there are many unpredictable choke points but it seems like there is no security or immigration I need to go through. I am thus assuming a 10 minute bus ride, 10 min wait for the bus (could be 10-15 but the MUC website does say it is every 10 min), and maybe 5 min brisk walk between each gate and the bus stop. So is it fair to say the vast majority of the time one should expect to make it gate door to gate door in 30 minutes?

I would account for 10 minutes to get from your T2 gate to the T2 bus stop, in case you park at the satellite (the bus leaves from the main terminal and you'd have to take an underground people mover to get to the main terminal). Between that and TK closing the doors 10-15 minutes before departure, you have virtually no buffer to accommodate a delay on your inbound flight.

Maybe no security but you can expect at least a passport check.
We love MUC connections though I admit to never having had to change Terminals and deal with a bus. Our last time in MUC, our UA inbound was about 15 late giving us about 40 minutes until pushback on LH to BUD. We were sitting in Biz near the exit door and were among the first one off the plane. An agent waved us into an elevator which took us down a level where we went through passport control with no queue at all. We got to the gate, about the farthest as possible from our arrival gate, and even after a quick pit stop, just as boarding started.
We’d have never made it at FRA, but then, I’d not have accepted such a short connection at FRA.

Both the US and Turkey are non-Schengen, and there's a dedicated non-Schengen inter-terminal transfer bus, so OP shouldn't need to go through proper/formal passport control. They might get asked for onward BP (and passport to match identity) before boarding the bus to make sure they're going to the correct place, but that'd be a cursory glance at most.
