UA gives me these 2 itineraries, one connecting at MUC, one connecting at FRA, with 1hr and 1hr20m connection time to make the flight to EWR. We have another US domestic flight after that but there are 2+hr layover, I hope would be enough with GE.
Can the knowledgeable folks here tell me whether the connection time is enough to make the US bound flight?

VIE-FRA FR-EWR
10:30am-12:00pm 1:20pm-3:40pm
We would prefer the one FRA-EWR because it gets us home almost 3 hours earlier.

Both are doable but there is no margin for error. On a normal day the connection is easily done but just bad weather can cause already issues. Another issue with FRA is that you never know if your flight arrives on a bus gate and if you need to take scenic drive across the tarmac to the building. In such a case additional things can go wrong (stairs not ready, bus not there, long drive). That's why I would not exclude the MUC itinerary completely where only very very few flights end up on a remote stand.

Can we assume that your inbound leg is on LH and your outbound is on UA? That could be a bit of a walk but nothing like FRA would be.
Last year, our UA flight from IAH to BUD started with a 1:15 connection in MUC. A later schedule change made it 55 minutes. Still doable. A thunderstorm at IAH delayed departure by 30 minutes but we landed MUC about 15 late. It was about a 15 minute walk to the LH gate. Still had time to hit the head. Arrived at the gate just as boarding began.
granted, we were in Biz class and seated near the exit door. That put us among the first to hit Passport control so no queue there yet. If you were in the back of the plane and among the last ones off, your timing would be different.
Regardless, it’s unlikely that the OP is going to be on a Jumbo jet so deplaning at the connecting airport shouldn’t take too long.

But I'd maybe also try harder to UA to put you on OS VIE-EWR assuming this was something they caused.

The PTS to T2S will be switched to bus service from Jan 15 to Feb 24 due to work on the system. Busses for the K and L gates will depart from G61/62 and H25 respectively.

How is the baggage handling situation at MUC these days? Has it improved since the chaos from a few months ago?
My wife and I are planning a POZ-MUC-LHR r/t in June 2024 with LH (I know it is still some time to go) with checked baggage (cannot do HBO on this trip). It will be our first time transiting through MUC.
Some flights I found have MCTs between 1.35 - 3 hours in some connections so I am considering those flights as in theory it should provide enough time for us and our baggage to transfer between flights (in normal circumstances).
Also, if not flying in C, what are the best "non-status/Priority Pass" lounges at MUC?

Sitting now in FMO. I was supposed to fly FMO-MUC-ZRH-PRN. Due to shortage of staff in MUC for de-icing, MUC-FMO is delayed by two hours (though all other flights that were supposed to depart between 10:50 and 11:30 left more or less on time). Now I will be landing in MUC 10 minutes after MUC-ZRH will have departed. HON line says that I will make it to my MUC-ZRH flight, as they will send a message to MUC team to hold the plane 🤭🤭 (right… I will believe it when I see it). HON team in ZRH just called me and said that they have protected me on WK the next day and on OS via VIE in case I wished to fly from MUC rather than from ZRH.
Let’s see what this will end up into. I am sure that luggage won’t make it.
