I didn't say they offer it all the time and to everyone...
I also assume the other status matches are time limited.

Apparently end of February will be the end of Heimat, according to German website airliners.de

https://www.airliners.de/lufthansa-b...g-heimat/78847

Source was Heiko Reitz, Chief Customer Officer of Lufthansa. Let's see what's gonna happen 😉 Seeing is believing...or something like that. Also no mentions on what's gonna change or if the plan on actually improving or "enhancing according to customer surveys"

(Joking aside, I would very much like to be impressed by the new catering).

Appears that Johann Lafer (former TV and Michelin starred cook and restaurateur) will front the new culinary offering for Lufthansa

He has also worked with Singapore Airlines and others therefore has experience in airline catering

Let’s see what his consultation can bring within Lufthansa’s myriad constraints. The article is a bit scant on details, but it doesn’t sound like a supplier switch to Do&Co is in the offing.

Lafer has also done meals for Lufthansa in the past. However if you take a look at the documentary about how ge worked for SQ / Do&Co in FRA it is evident he is challenged by airline catering.

I have flights at the end of February. Could I be getting a mix of services?

Chances are it‘ll be a mixed service experience 😉.

Thank you! I’ll have to see then what I do for the meal back.

This recommendation from the other thread dealing with Heimat might appeal universally then:

A news release from Lufthansa confirms that the new catering concept (including meal pre-selection) will roll out from 26th February.

https://newsroom.lufthansagroup.com/...m-haul-routes/

To be honest, the way the press release is written isn’t very clear, but it seems that hot meals will feature on flights over two hours, with three choices on flights over three hours. (Keen observers will note that this means the majority of Lufthansa’s short haul flights will continue to see only cold meals).

No sample menus, just a few publicity shots, but maybe some posters here already have access to the pre-order facility for their upcoming flights and can share the selection?

The way I read it

Flights "around two hours" (so perhaps 1:30+ block or so?) will get a choice now.
Flights 3h+ will get hot options, like BA (though BA cutoff for hot options is considerably shorter).
Flights shorter than "around two hours" will presumably get a small cold dish with no choice, like today.

Not great, but at least in introduces choice and specificity of when a hot meal will be offered (rather than current "when there is competitive pressure on the route")

Additionally, on flights of 2 hours or more, you can preorder a hot dish (even if normally only a cold one would be served).

All in all, I'm cautiously optimistic.

What if you have a flight on the 26th February?
