Yes I’m back using the Centurion lounge now. The Plaza Premium First lounge is a zoo. At least the Centurion section of the Amex lounge is very quiet, and they have caviar

Depressing lounge choice in HKG
Writing this from the Krisflyer lounge waiting for LX back to ZRH.
This is the first time I’m traveling through HKG since the riots started but more importantly my first time ever not on CX.
Once you get used to the CX lounges here the Star Alliance choices here are quite depressing. Am I missing anything? I also checked the mini lounge from Hongkong Airlines which has the benefit of being near gate 24, but couldn’t stay in that tiny hole.
Any other recommendations for HKG (beyond rather booking CX when flying here)?

Well, the Plaza Premium First lounge is great imo.
And frankly for Business Class and *G the SQ, Thai and UA lounges aren't too shaby as well...
It's better than in a lot of outstations, but I agree, there is not really and top end *A lounge in HKG fro the lack of a *A home carrier. Maybe once we get the Polaris Lounge in HKG this might change.

Christmas crowded
At HKG at present with 4 hrs to kill. Amex Centurion (plat side) a very busy day care center with few seating options.
Don't qualify for Cent black magic door.
Plaza Premium an absolute zoo, about 50 people queued up just to get in.
Sitting in TG now, large, quiet, comfortable. Food pretty good.
Definitely the best of what I've seen on offer.
If anyone sees this and has a recommendation for *G on Ethiopian J, I'm all ears.

Don't hold your breath for that, there are no concrete plans for a Polaris lounge at HKG.
And hope you don't need a shower at HKG when flying *A, because SQ and UA are closed, and TG's (they only have one) is the worst I've ever seen in an airport lounge.

Hi all.
update about current situation with *A lounges at HKG.
Flying LH J tonight to MUC. We used AirportExpress so we were able to check our luggage directly downtown. This checkin opens at the date of departure at 07AM. We were printed boarding passes approx 6h before deparute time and we received lounge voucher for HongKong airlines lounge between gates 23 and 25. We headed towards HKG apt directly after downtown checkin. LH checkin counter at airport was not open at the time we arrived to apt approx 5h 15min before departure.
Reading this forum and being (likely) updated about lounges situation at HKG, we tried following:
- Hong Kong airlines lounge:
- it was only us (2 pax) in lounge + 1 other pax, 3 receprionist and information, that due to "Health protection situation" serving food is postoponned. On serving table was present one bowl of apples, one bowl of bananas, one plate of kiwis, tired sandwiches and next to kitchen window list of 4 chinese soup to be ordered. We left.
- TG (near gate 40)
- we arrived 19:15 and we were told that lounge would be closing 20:00, better to go to SQ Silver Kriss lounge. We left
- SQ Silver Kriss lounge (near gate 05)
- we arrived 19:30, approx 3,5h before dep. We were the only one here in this lounge. (Un)Likely due to current situation in aviation business and worldwide as SQ grounded huge part of fleet, the same LH/LX, this lounge, being reported by previous flyertalkers overcrowded, was completely empty. Other PAX started arriving aprox 2,5h before LH dep to MUC (speaking german), but still, we are now 1,5h before dep and I am counting 17people here.
- showers in SQ SilverKriss J part still not working, temperature OK.
- food: limited hot selection, but compared to HongKong airlines, amazing selection.
- wifi: need to relogin every hour :-(
Nowadays it looks like, from my experience, that SQ SilverKriss is the best option for *A travellers.
Hope this info helps.

I was flying out HKG on LX F the other day and I had a good time at HKG airport lounges. No check in luggage so I entered airside with mobile phone boarding pass, I asked for the printed version later at the gate before boarding. The HKG airport is currently not accessible to the public, only pax with boarding passes or booking printouts for flights within the next 24hrs are allowed to enter the airport. The airport feels quiet, no big crowds inside, security and passport control are a breeze. I went to TG lounge first (takes an airport train ride to get there), they have "First Class" door inside the lounge but I was told they did not have a special First Class section inside and the lounge closed at 7 PM. From there I moved to SQ lounge (takes a long walk back to Gate 5 because the train goes only one way which is the opposite way), and for quite some time I was the only F passenger in the First Class section (the regular J section wasn't crowded but not empty either). A very nice welcome from the SQ lounge staff. They offer a la carte dishes in First Class section as well as good selection of buffet food. Apart from big comfortable chairs I liked the special seats inside that section which remind you of being onboard of SQ plane. I moved to Plaza Premium First Class lounge (moderately crowded) for dinner (also a la carte dishes, nice attentive service) and shower, and came back to SQ lounge. Plaza Premium does not allow F pax to bring a company, SQ lounge allows F pax company if they have a boarding pass for any Star Alliance flight in any class of travel. From the SQ lounge an agent escorted me to the gate, although it was a simple walk to gate 25 and there was a special F line for boarding, separate from J/*Gold. But I had interesting conversations with both the SQ lounge staff and the agent about the current situation at HKG airport from their perspective.

The lounge situation at HKG is appalling, no *A lounge, they all closed & as of last Month the Plaza First lounge was still serving the same c—p as the other Plaza lounges….. only saving grace at HKG is the HON & F service which is superb…. the Station management know how dire the lounge situation is & are working on it, please do report back
