Maybe at least for their business class passengers and SENs, to be able to stop paying for the Hong Kong airlines lounge for them.

It actually surprised me that they are paying for the Hong Kong airlines lounge, SQ J & TG J are not small & quite OK,
UA J is huge & nice views, as a J pax I would probably hang out in UA.

The real issue was for F pax, not even enough seats since SQ run F to & from HKG & some days LH group have 24 F pax plus HON’s in J

I was surprised, too, as all of the *A lounges are OKish, just very basic f&b, and I do actually like to spend some time at the UA lounge (as long as I don’t need a shower ...).

The J showers, in contrast, are not in the best shape and have an air-conditioning problem.

Gee, I sure am glad that I abandoned UA (after they dumped on me repeatedly) and currently fly to/from/thru HKG with Cathay Pacific. Great seats, service, and lounges at HKG!!!

I think “heaven” might be a stretch here I do a lot of OW flying too, and the CX af lounges (whilst very nice) are often super busy.. way busier than any LH F lounge at their hubs.
Great spaces with too many people definitely takes away from the experience.

Yes, it was merely a comparison at HKG between OW & *A

OW lounge admittance rules are generous, so every Man & his Dog gets FCL access. Give me LH group FCL’s anytime over that.

Just spotted within the M&M App:

"We're enhancing your time to departure"

From now, if you are a First Class Passenger or HON Circle Member flying with Lufthansa or SWISS, the exclusive Plaza Premium First Lounge near Gate 1, Terminal 1 at Hong Kong International Airport is available to you, as well as the lounges of our Star Alliance partners"

This comes of course after I have been to HKG twice in the last 6 weeks with no plans to return in the near future :P

Cheers,
sMk
