I find that PPB is very good for business to first upgrades. With my (Israel-based) PPB a/c I can upgrade from almost any economy class to business on LH and LX TLV-FRA/MUC/ZRH for 4000 PPB points per direction - and I earn nearly that much for each business class trip to Euope (espeically when they have double points promos.). So in effect, for each paid Z class trip (approx US$1400 all-in) I get a free upgrade Y to C, plus my regular miles (15,000 or so, enough for an upgrade one-way or flightsmart flight to Europe in Y).

Note that the rules on eligible accumulation and redemption options within PPB are quite different from one country to the next. In most LH Group home markets (DE, AT, CH etc.) the program was "enhanced" a while ago and the value proposition deteriorated significantly.

It is my understanding that only tickets bought in the country where your PPB account is based are eligible - a frequent frustration for me as I buy ex-CH as well as ex-CA tickets.

Yep - agreed. BA changed their On Business program to allow all tickets to be credited, wherever purchased. I often have to weigh up the $50 TSC which is standard in Israel vs the benefit of PPB points. The ticket can originate anywhere, it just has to be issued locally. Sometimes YQ is lower for tickets issued here, which tips the balance and I get it issued here.

Correct, but one company can have multiple PPB accounts. We have one in Switzerland and one in Germany, for example.

PPB vs. M&M Inventory

Very different inventory of Award seats. Tried to book for next summer MUC-YVR. M&M has 2 I Business seats, no O First seats, even no paid A First seats available. PPB had no I seats, but two O seats and 8 X seats. Especially strange is that no paid A seats (while they have 8 F seats), but at PPB two O First available. I have booked one O at PPB (because not enough Points for two at PPB)and one I at M&M for the time being.

PPB availability is fantastic.
I recently booked a DUS-MUC flights which was J0C0D0Z0Y0.
I could have forced a J ticket via HON booking guarantee but PPB got me a seat in Business!

Partner Plus Benefit, the LH program for small and medium size companies.
IIRC also know as Star Alliance Company Plus.

At least two more I seats at M&M available and booked, but none at PPB. LH still has no O nor A seats.
