It's been a while since it was discussed, but can I access a lounge in Dusseldorf as a UA*1k on a Eurowings ticket on my outbound (my inbound is in LH via FRA, which is much easier)? Flight connections are absolute garbage on my dates hence the 5h15mins layover in DUS are actually the best option.

As long as you are not on Basic fare, you should get access to LH lounge in DUS with EW departure. This is not for all *G, only UA, AC and NH (and of course SEN).
Note that this is for EW (Eurowings), not 4Y (Discover, formerly Eurowings Discover)

EW used to have the rules on NH/AC/UA elite access on their website, but that is gone in a new version: https://www.eurowings.com/en/your-re...e/lounges.html

LH, on the other hand still says Star Alliance Gold members have access to all LH SEN and BIZ lounges with any *A ticket, or for EN, EW and 4Y (actually I missed that) UA*G, AC*G and NH*G only: https://www.lufthansa.com/be/en/admission-rules

If I buy a refundable fare multi-city ticket in business class D fare outbound and P fare inbound, and then a P fare on the outbound opens up at a later date, can I downgrade from the D fare to the P fare and be refunded the cost difference?

If I am coming into fra in F (long haul) and departing same day in 'business' (short haul) faq says I would be eligible assuming it's on lx/lh.

What about the Porsche ride? My last experience departing straight out of fra in f wasn't so great as I was jammed into a Mercedes van w 4 other passengers from fct

Sorry to hear about being jammed into a van. For your next trip, you should be aware that you can also walk to the gate and take part in the boarding scrum, or, if you're lucky, spend 15 minutes in a full COBUS on the platform. I am sure you will enjoy the experience.

Yes, arriving F & connecting to LHG metal you can use FCT, wether Porsche or Van depends on the number of pax going to the onward flight, for obvious reasons

Only if the D fare is full flex and allows refaring.

How can I identify if it allows refaring? Full flex I understand.

The fare conditions will tell. The fare name will quickly tell you what the deal is. In the example of LON HKG D fares you have 3 D fares filed:

Code:
12OCT23**12OCT23/LH LONHKG/NSP;EH/TPM 5970/MPM 8175
*** FOR STAR ALLIANCE RTW* SEE FQD XYZXYZ EG:FRAFRA ***
LN FARE BASIS OW GBP RT B PEN DATES/DAYS AP MIN MAX R
01+DFFOWGB 2695 D - - - + + - - R
02+DRCOWGB 2551 D + - - + + - - R
03+DNCOWGB 2407 D NRF - - + + - - R
04+DFFGB 3256 D - - - + + - 12M R
05+DRCGB 3076 D + - - + + - 12M R
06+DNCGB 2896 D NRF - - + + - 12M R
FF has the following clause in the penalty fare rules under changes:

Code:
IN CASE OF UPGRADING TO A HIGHER RETURN/ONE WAY
FARE THE FARE DIFFERENCE WILL BE COLLECTED.
          -----------------------------------------------
IN CASE OF DOWNGRADING TO A LOWER RETURN/ONE WAY
FARE A CREDIT OF THE RESIDUAL AMOUNT WILL BE MADE.
          -----------------------------------------------
IF APPLICABLE - COLLECT THE CHANGE FEE AND CHARGE
THE FARE DIFFERENCE TO THE HIGHER FARE.
RC and NC have this clause: (changes cost 250GBP on these fares)

Code:
WHEN CHANGES ARE MADE AND THE ORIGINALLY TICKETED
BOOKING CLASS ARE KEPT THE NEW FARE MAY BE LOWER/
EQUAL OR HIGHER. ANY RESIDUAL AMOUNT WILL BE
          IGNORED.
          -----------------------------------------------
WHEN CHANGES ARE MADE AND THE ORIGINALLY TICKETED
BOOKING CLASS CHANGED THE NEW FARE MAY ONLY
          BE EQUAL OR HIGHER.
          -----------------------------------------------
IF APPLICABLE - COLLECT THE CHANGE FEE AND CHARGE
THE FARE DIFFERENCE TO THE HIGHER FARE.

I see, so FF is the good one here (really interesting choice of English they use).

Thanks!

I am booked in Premium Economy on a Lufthansa flight, FRA to YUL, however the flight was ticketed by Air Canada. Is there anyway to upgrade this flight?

Greetings , new to Miles and More,
I was just looking to book a flight. I have a M&M credit card and I accrued about 165000 miles. My understanding was that I was able to book a roundtrip flight to Europe for 60000 miles plus taxes and fees with Lufthansa.
Through the Miles and More website they only book me on Austrian, no idea why. And when I tried to purchase a ticket through Lufthansa, the want me to use all my miles plus lots of cash. This is definitively not what I signed up for.
What am I missing? is there a particular place of unwritten rules that i do not know about? Any hep would be greatly appreciated!

When you try to purchase with LH, you are not purchasing an award ticket, you are using miles to convert to cash price, which is (generally) a lot worse value.

You need to go through M&M. They will give you availability on whatever they have, no idea how the process goes there. Maybe whatever the "bid price" is the lowest for them to pay out to the airline?

Also, consider LOT as well. Their fees and taxes for award tickets are lower.
