Eurowings Cancels Planned Tehran Launch

Eurowings has cancelled planned service launch to Iran, scheduled to commence late-March 2016. The airline previously planned to operate 1 weekly Cologne Tehran flight from 29MAR16 (Day 2/3), and with an increase to 2 weekly from 06MAY16.
Reservation for this route is no longer available. Previously planned schedule as follow.

Eurowings in recent schedule update further revised planned service launch to the US, including further delay to planned Miami service, as well as Las Vegas. Previously scheduled to commence on 01MAY16, Cologne Miami service will now commence on 01SEP16, with 3 weekly flights.

Eurowings in Northern winter 2016/17 season plans to increase service on Cologne – Mauritius route, with the addition of 2nd weekly flight. Subject to Government Approval, the airline will operate new flight on Mondays from Cologne, Tuesdays from Mauritius, effective 19DEC16.

New route to Salalah from Oct 16

Eurowings in winter 2016/17 season plans to introduce new Middle East route, as the airline files Cologne Salalah operation from 01OCT16. Eurowings is scheduled to be the first European carrier to provide scheduled service to Salalah in Oman.
Planned schedule for this twice weekly flights, effective for the month of October 2016 only, as follow.

Sorry I seriously doubt that there is much or significant tourism at this point - it might be growing fast if they had 5 tourists last year and 15 tourists this year - they grew 300% 
Also tourism to Arabic country's in general is WAY down - so the only explanation would be a charter contract either freight or tourism that EW got to fill the flight no matter what - else it will not survive...

Muscat & Oman is a major tourist destination that actually has some local things to see, not some man made attractions. Also Dhofar/SLL has beach, desert, highlands etc all in one area. With N. Africa and Turkey closed for fear of attacks, the GCC destinations are gaining market shares.

Eurowings starting December 2016 launches new long-haul route to Cuba, as the airline opened reservation for Cologne Havana route. Effective 15DEC16, this route will be served once a week on Thursdays, using Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
