German tour operator TUI fly on its website has listed Eurowings proposed new routes for Summer 2016, which would see the airline operates service to Boston and Mauritius, from Cologne. In additioin, tour operator 1-2-fly is also listing Eurowings proposed service to Ft. Laudedale and Las Vegas. Planned information as follow. Best is the LH PE seat, the rest of the cabin is the usual B/E pinnacle economy seat used by LH Group.

Eurowings this week opened reservation for planned new Cologne Mauritius route, due to begin from 05MAY16. Airline Route previously reported this planned service on 23SEP15. Revised New Vienna EU Routes

Eurowings has revised planned new service from Vienna, due to commence from 09NOV15. Planned new Vienna London Stansted will be operating up to 9 weekly starting 04DEC15, instead of planned 6 weekly. Further, all service will now be operated by Eurowings A320Sharklet (32A) aircraft, instead of previously planned Austrian A320. EW5830 VIE0625 0735STN 32A 135 EW5832 VIE1815 1925STN 32A x6 EW5831 STN0825 1130VIE 32A 135 EW5833 STN2005 2310VIE 32A x6 Planned 3 weekly service to Palma Mallorca and 1 daily to Barcelona remains unchanged. Eurowings to Tehran

Eurowings is the latest airline to announce it will launch a service to Tehran. The Lufthansa Group subsidiary, formerly Germanwings, will commence a once-weekly service from Cologne Bonn airport on March 29, increasing to twice-weekly on May 6. The route will initially operate on Tuesdays/Wednesdays, and then also on Fridays/Saturdays. Outbound service EW124 will depart Cologne Bonn at 2105 and arrive at Imam Khomeini International at 0440 the next day. Return leg EW125 will leave Tehran at 0625 and land in Germany at 0925. Eurowings will roster an A330 on to the route. |
Really surprised to see them serving a route like this, I would have thought it was more of a business route than a long haul LCC venture. But I would love to go there, it's an amazing place apparently. And the hospitality of Iranians is legendary. I've heard nothing but good reports from people who've been there.

There are a lot of Persian/Iranians living in Germany that fly home, so don't underestimate the VFR traffic.

Eurowings has confirmed its planned service launch to the US from Cologne in Summer 2016 season, as the airline opened reservation this week. From 01MAY16, the airline will operate service to Boston, Las Vegas and Miami with following schedule. Since this is point to point leisure travel I doubt anyone wants to fly to DXB in May/June/July during the intense heat?

That is so right, for most the heat is insufferable at that time. On the other hand, if you can stand the heat and take appropriate precautions (go with 50 sunblock, take plenty water) you can have a pretty good time for very little cost (it can get amazingly cheap in low season). Or hunker down in the luxury hotels and shopping malls. Point is, you can get amazing deals with other carriers in low season which border on mileage runs!
I wonder if Eurowings will return there next winter or if their long haul operation will even exist anymore by then. |
