All EW A330-200s are and have always been operated by SunExpress. The A330-300s are operated by Brussels FYI. Both types have the EW livery and crews wear EW uniforms though, so it might not be obvious to the average passenger that their longhaul flight is not actually operated by EW.

Saw this when it was announced, always nice to see more service to ANC. Interesting it'll compete with DE on the route. And DE earns AS miles now...

What's going on with Eurowings New York flights?

Has anyone heard anything about Eurowings cancelling or modifying their Newark flight this spring/summer? One way prices in both directions are pretty standard for the route through the end of April, and then starting 4/27/20, all in either direction are over $2000 going forward. I'm booked on a DUS-EWR one way in July, wondering if I should come up with a backup plan.

EW longhaul is switching to become LH marketed flights. So the flights will still operate, but follow LH pricing logic.

Good Lord is that in the bin already? LH management churn through ideas like a teenage girl through boyfriends. A new one every minute.

Got it. Thanks! So will it still be Eurowings-branded metal or LH? Booked "BEST" class so wondering what that will translate into.

All A330 will be in Lufthansa style C/PE/Y cabin by summer, so best will be PE. Branding is EW.

MUC will retain 4 AB aircraft already stationed here. Curious if LH will deploy them as EW on former AB routes.

On longhaul news, EW launched WDH ex CGN last week.

For now the AB/EW service ex MUC is not replacing existing LH group flights.

The MUC EW base will close this summer. The leisure routes that EW did for the tour operators have all gone to LH, some service from DUS/DTM etc will remain. Longhaul EW ex MUC will be sold by LH.

Thanks for the heads-up.

To understand this correctly:

- leisure routes have gone to LH: Lufthansa will now fly with its own metal to "leisure" destinations (I presume small Greek islands with a strip of concrete, obscure Balkan villages, camping grounds...) that were previously served by EW? Same number of weekly frequencies?
- DUS/DTM will remain: served by EW planes that are based in DUS/DTM? Why not CGN, TXL?
- Longhaul EW will be sold by LH: EW planes, but LH flight number? Not bookable through EW website anymore? Same destinations, same number of weekly flights as before?

Thank you for sharing all your insights.

So it’s Lufthansa opby Eurowings opby SunExpress? Why not simplify that to LH opby SunExpress? Why the double-wetlease (or whatever that is)?

Because Germans like being ultra complicated, just look at the plethora of different M&M and Payback numbers I have, it's just beyond rational belief. But in all fairness Air France were doing a lot of similar dumb things with their wetleases and op by whatever nonsense. Makes me wonder if it's all an elaborate tax or fee dodge.
