I got a new barbecue!
I have a question from people that played it previously. Can you use the cones for something else, besides feeding, later in the game? If thats the case maybe it is a good decision to plant as many trees as possible right now. The ROI would be quite good, much better then fertilizing.

Last year they were only useful as food. This year LH tells us we'll soon be able to spend them in the Club Ren WorldShop and buy goodies to make our reindeer happier, prettier, more inclined to reproduce, or whatever.

This year you will be able to use the cones to buy accessories for your pen.
As such, your thinking is good!
