No problem, ask M&M to insert your SAN-IAH into the reservation as a ghost segment. Then LH in IAH will know you are coming in on UA from SAN.

C load on LH 440, Oct 26

Hey there,
Never been here before so if my terminology doesn't work, please feel free to correct me.

I'm booked on LH 440 on Oct 26 FRA - IAH on Y. I should have a paper GPU (UA) be sent to me in the next few days. I'm wondering how does C look like currently on that flight and also, if there's anyway to know how many seats are up for U/G?

Thanks!

Could someone be kind enough to check LH477 YVR-MUC for this Sunday Sept. 15? LH tells me there in no space in C which is why they haven't released upgrade space and also say there is no availability for even a paid upgrade but my research (NewbieRunner has check for me in the past) has shown otherwise. I want to have my facts straight before I call them again. Many thanks and yes, I will be joining KVS myself!

It's unbelievable. The F cabin is completely empty as of now, and there are 9 blocked and 9 unassigned seats in C. Y doesn't look terribly full either.

So I know it's OT for this thread but why is LH giving me the 'cabin of service is not available' spiel? I have had an evoucher upgrade request in for 3 months now and on Monday, wanted to do a paid upgrade. The story has been the same the whole time - no space in the business cabin. Not just no upgrade space, but not even paid space.

I just talked to M&M in Germany. He can see the cabin as wide open but can't do anything to push it through. He says the system will check every 2 hours until 10 hours prior to departure for I space (I think that's the code on LH - sorry if incorrect). He advised me not to do OLCI and go to the airport to check in there. If it hasn't cleared by then, I can do a paid upgrade at the airport. Strangest system I have ever seen. Lots of room and they are willing to sell it to me at check in but won't let me use a voucher or upgrade now.

I'm a LH noob but it just seems weird that they give you these vouchers then don't really let you use them but are quite happy to take your money at check in instead.

LH is probably losing a lot of money on that route (MUC-YVR). F+C cabins are always quite open.

Thanks you guys. Gives me hope. Will wait it out.

Edit: well, what do you know? Just got an email now that it cleared. I'm doing the happy dance. Now, did any of you fine FT'ers have anything to do with it? Pulled some strings perhaps?
Kidding, but I do appreciate all the help and advice.

Checking all different avenues, I am thinking I am in that limbo with the new F but the old C for this flight, according to the various places I've checked. Athough recent searches of the tail numbers shows that it varies almost by the day. Oliver2002, does your Amadeus show which version I'm on? It seems row 16 is my best option at this point regardless.

What else did you expect?

Actually I was going to suggest you should call LH in Germany but you obviously did and they couldn't help either. But the comment about the system checking award availability every 2 hours until 10 hours prior to departure if an interesting one.

I did check M&M for award seats and interestingly I could find F awards but no C awards on this flight.

Having scored an upgrade you are now complaining about the old C?

ExpertFlyer is showing an aircraft with the old C cabin. All I can say is even the old C is much, much better than Y on a 10-hour flight. Try and get a seat in row 10 if you can though you may have to wait until you get to the airport. More leg room though it's also the bassinet row.

See, that's what this place has turned me into
As soon as it cleared, the obsession to find the best seat began. If only I had gone yesterday, D-AIQQ is of one of the already refitted aircraft. It's just so sad that I have been reduced to searching for tail numbers.....

And no, not complaining in the least. Still doing the happy dance.

That explains it. I managed to snag the last 3 Y seats to AMS. Almost no more tickets being sold now for the flights that day. I'm curious what will happen at the gate as I think most flights are overbooked.

I am sure it will work out fine. There is always a way to incentivize people to take a later flight.

Ms. Travelsig just picked up 800 EUR cash in MAD on her way to DFW (on AA) for a meeting just by volunteering to take a later flight which in the end only delayed her two and a half hours to her final destination. Given the 800 EUR is cash (so somewhat "after taxes") it wasn't too bad of an offer. And Mr. Travelsig got a nice little present as she spent some money on him too (in fact we went to a stunning restaurant in Merano).

Particularly LH group seems to be quite good at getting planes out full without leaving people behind in tears so-to-speak.
