If you log into your M&M account you can check it for yourself. Business awards are available with M&M miles but not to *A members according to EF and ANA tool. I'm not sure if upgrade awards book into the same booking class as Business awards.

If you are upgrading via *A FFP partners, they book into the same class. M&M upgrades follow a different logic and use I but in a different way

I am booked on MUC-NRT two days out. Overnight it dropped to J8C8...P7. It was J9C9....P8 yesterday and all 9s as of about 5-6 days ago.

Expertflyer shows 15 empty seats including blocked seats. There are 10 if you attempt a dummy booking. And my dummy booking brought it down to J7.

I am curious who I am competing with for last minute upgrades? I have a UA GPU. Will there typically be many M&M pax doing day of flight upgrades? The fact that there is only one seat taken in the premium section of economy suggests that there are no LH high status pax in eco on this flight. It's F4 so maybe some last minute upgrades to F are expected too?

My ticket is flexible so I can change it by two days for a wide open flight in C, which might be the prudent thing to do.
