Consistency seems to run against LH more recent business models.

What sense does such an embargo on certain faires make, if it is not advertised as such. Hard to influence the customers by not giving them a hint.

Has there been anything consistent about op-ups in the past?
Apart from the fact that some people consistently didn't get any?

That is not the way to look at this: if V was banned, then people on V fares should not be op upped, no matter how unlikely an op up is to begin with.

This is why I perceive such LH regulations which are a) not published and b) not followed as ... well ... of spiritual value.

And I spent a lot of additional money for my upcoming bookings - they are all in V now for the chances of opups

I guess living in China as well as flying LH a lot gets you into an "oh well...." state of mind. She also didn't look like somebody who would ever take a decision that was other than the rules. And no obvious supervisor around.
Tried at the gate, but unfortunately the same girl from check-in was there.

At least got SWU-upped on the flight back. SEN next to me was greeted and reserved his choice of meal. Me, 1K on the BP and SEN card in the wallet: "Sorry Sir, we only have the prawns now". Again, much too indifferent about LH C food by now to give it a though. Just put myself to rest on the slide and tried to sleep

But without the sup not rules ... this is not a fixed rule to begin with.

The very same 1K->SEN killed my E+ seat (on a full fare coach btw) from HKG to SIN, when the little lounge tart claimed that I am not a 1K when crediting to M&M.

I believe that sterile zones in airports are predominantly installed to protect evil employees from enraged customers ....

I strongly doubt any relationship between fare class and likelyhood for an op-up.

I just returned from a free flight (FRA-PHL), paid for with miles, and both my girl friend and I got bumped up to C even though she doesn't have any status at all with LH.

Maybe they're planning to implent this but it's certainly not implemented yet.

She got bumped because your got bumped (most probably you shared the same PNR). And you got bumped because you are SEN.

Poster is on an award ticket (or reward ticket how this is more recently and predominantly monikered on FT ) and hence should be non-eligible for an op-up.

Yet another myth chez Lufthansa.

But it's been made clear some time ago that award tickets are in fact eligible for op-ups based on the status of the holder...

Ultimatelly, I don't think this entire discussion matters that much. It's totally at LH discretion who they upgrade and when. All the "leaks" and information on this forum does not change that, even if it makes it easier to understand it.
