Had my first new F on a 744 last week from Mex to Fra. What a positive experience! The bed must be the best I have ever flown! Much prefer to A380 now. Keep it up LH!

Um, isn't the bed installed only in existing 747s, and new aircraft (including 747-8s) will have new F seats, but not separate beds? So, unfortunately, I don't think LH is going to "keep it up"!

Which is why I never really understood why LH put that product on its 744s. Why have a nice, new product that is only on some of one plane type, and that type is slowly being replaced?

And they also had too many non-paying seats siting idle on the B747.
I would imagine that their paying load factor in the New B747 seats has gone up.

I've done F on the new 747, old 747, A380, and the A333, A346.
The "new" F on the 747 is certainly the best of all. With the separate bed and only 8 people in the entire upper deck, it is the most comfortable of all the F cabins, including the over-hyped A380.

I think the 744 cabin looks great (I only fly to MUC, so alas I have not been in it) it just seems odd that after they introduced what looks like a very nice F product on the A380 they put an even better product on some of the fleet, while putting the A380 similar product on the rest of the fleet.
I would not be surprised if 744 F bookings have gone up, but it is still unlikely that you will get the new F seat.

I hope the move to FRA is not permanent. Anyone got more info on this sudden replacement? Is it because LH flies A380 to EWR from MUC this week?

What was cheaper than simply buying new seats? I am a bit confused by your post.

Since I have been on all types already I would not say that the new 744 concept is better than the A380 product. Both types have pros and cons. Sure the extra bed is nice, but the bed on the A380 is comfortable too. The seating comfort is definitely better on the A380.
I think LH came out with a nice bridge solution for the 744s, but the original approach is the better way for the future.

That was my understanding as well- however I don't know if this is actually the constraint (other airlines have a lot more seats upstairs on a 744 and it seems to be fine).

If I understood the LH people at Boeing correctly the weight per area of the new F seat (the A380 seat modified for the 748i) is too heavy for the upper deck or the 744. The new F seat in the A330/340 is also only possible by redistributing the weight across various fittings on the floor using a platform of some sort.
