Get outside the airport. Go visit Santa Monica boardwalk, etc.

Funny you should mention the boardwalk. I actually visited the boardwalk, and all the fried establishments it had to offer when I was in LA last month. :D

7 hours? I'd almost certainly get out of LAX. Maybe go up to the Getty or something? I'm no expert on LA, but there have to be a thousand things to do with a few hours and within a short cab ride from LAX. (I know there are no trains to LAX, which is a bit of a bummer...)

A lounge for 7 hours - especially a lame one like a domestic U.S. lounge - would be rather tedious.

As this thread is more about the OP's options for a 7-hour layover at LAX than AAdmiral's Club access, I'll move it to the Los Angeles forum with an updated thread title. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz.

According to my recollection, LAX has a CPK somewhere, and a teriyaki place (might be another terminal), so I'll probably buy some food and bring it in.

Thanks

Most airline lounges don't allow you to bring in and/or consume outside food, but sometimes you can get away if you're discrete and the food isn't obvious and doesn't smell. YMMV.

True, although the OP *might* want to research that ID thing a bit further if he does indeed want to buy a daypass. @:-)

I had no idea you needed to be 18 to get in. Seems like it'd either be 21-and-over only, or no age limit at all and you show ID if necessary to the bartender inside.

I know I've seen children inside clubs before, so I assume underage people can enter if they otherwise qualify via status or ticket type. I wonder if they can be "guested" in by an adult member...

I'd suggest getting out of the airport and heading a mile or two south to Plaza El Segundo.

Some decent shops and eateries. You can hang out, walk around, eat.
There's a Starbucks if you want to hang and use WiFi

I was wondering the same thing, but the AA site does say it is 18+.

If AA doesn't let the OP in, perhaps he can go to another terminal and try to buy a pass for another lounge. Not sure what the rules are at the others and it is a hike, but the OP is young and has 7 hours.

From LAX there are a lot of towns that are short drive out. There are beaches too.

You could do Santa Monica, Venice, El Sugundo and Redando beach to the south.

The issue is what time of the day are you in LAX.

For me, a four-hour layover is the break point between choosing to hang out in a lounge versus heading out of the airport. Seven hours? It's a no-brainer.

Take the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus to SM or the Union Station Flyaway downtown. But hanging out at the airport for that long is a waste of an opportunity, IMHO.

Not generally an option at LAX, with one exception. Terminal 4 is not connected airside with any other terminals currently (although that may change soon), so you can't generally access any other lounges, with one exception:

The Relax lounge in the Bradley terminal is out of security, and they don't mention an age restriction on the website that I saw.

All that said, the Relax lounge is crap compared to the AC... 7 hours outside is definitely the way to go. If you're really adventurous, you could use the Green Line to access downtown LA... or the Costco in Hawthorne :D

In a few weeks I'm going to have a stopover at LAX, landing from JFK at 2:53 pm, and departing for Sydney then Melbourne with United at 10:30pm.

I figure it will be maybe 3:30 by the time I claim my bag, and would want to be at Terminal 7 by about 8:00 to check in and then go though Immigration.

Would this be enough time to do something/anything in L.A other than In and Out burger? Or should I just go for a day pass at the United lounge?

Thanks in advance.
