Always can go to the beach, Venice or Manhattan depending on what flavor you want....

thanks for the suggestions guys... Physical condition and age are no concern... At the lax wc now (yes, I'll be back here tomorrow night). Going to take a shower in DTW tomorrow so won't need that. With back to back redeyes, the walk to in & out may be much appreciated.

I'd be glad to hear about other thoughts if people have them!

Moving to the Cali forum where it will hopefully be able to get more attention than in this WorldPerks forum.

Thanks,

I've done this before and will doing it again, JFK-LAX MR (On DL for about $150!) Another cool thing about In-Out is it has EXCELLENT views of the planes landing at LAX...

one question about this, is there a road that's walkable? If there's one thing I know about airport access roads, its that they're not too pedestrian friendly...

Why do you spend so much time in the WC? Do you have a bladder problem?

Anyway, the subject of what to do on your LAX layover has been done to death in the Consolidated Threads on the subject, to which this thread should be moved.

I walked to In-N-Out before from the NW terminal in LAX. Just go to the arrival level, walk to Sepulveda, make a left and keep going until you see the In-N-Out sign :D

not sure what that means... EDIT.. Oh, i get it... Haha ... Wc= northwest worldclub... End edit...
I was in the wc because I had a 3 hour layover, and they have wireless and drinks.. Since then I've flown lax-msp, msp-dtw, dtw-buf, buf-dtw, and am about to do dtw-msp and msp-lax before turning around again on the redeye.

Will probably take a walk around tonight.

Thanks for the tips all!

17-hour layover in LAX - where to rest?

I'm about to book an itinerary that leaves me at LAX from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. after arriving on a redeye from KOA. Where can I get some rest and hopefully a few hours sleep before continuing to MEL?

I'll be in F so it's not as if I was in E-. Still, I know that I won't sleep sitting up from KOA - LAX. I don't want to board UA 839 as a semi basket case.

The options I can think of are:

1) Get a room at a nearby hotel.

2) Spend a bunch of time in the IFL.

The last time I was in the IFL at LAX (2006) there were a couple of nice reclining chairs but that was it for relaxing horizontally. Has that changed?

FYI I am not an RCC member. Not do I have other club membership. I realize that as a 1K on an F ticket that I can get into the RCC. I have been assuming that the IFL is far better, particularly if I'm there all day.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

For that much time I would definitely get a hotel by the airport. There are lots to choose from and they all have free shuttle service to the airport. No showers at LAX and when I go down under I always like to have a late shower before heading to the airport if possible. You will probably feel the same especially leaving the night before.

Curious though, are there no daytime flights you could take? Surely there must be a way for you to catch a morning flight and arrive at LAX in the late afternoon?

For 17 hours I'd definitely recommend getting a cheap hotel nearby. There are plenty of them and many reasonably priced.

I'd also recommend checking the Los Angeles forum in "travel and dining"

How about the beach?

In-N-Out.

You might want to consider other options such as Air New Zealand from Honolulu to Auckland.

Or, doesn't the Air Canada Honolulu-Sydney run still exist?

Both might save you a day's time.
