I'm not sure how you enforce the rule since LAX doesn't have electronic transponders. Maybe they can install license plate cameras?
(A little bit of googling before I hit "submit reply" verifies that they do require transponders on vehicles that do pickups on the lower level.) |
That's funny - I noticed my Fastrak beeped there the other day also. I keep it in my glove box when I don't expect to use it, but I heard the beep on entering the horseshoe on the departures level.

UberPool from LAX to Burbank
I'm flying to LAX on Monday night and heading to Burbank, what are the odds I will be able to use UberPool at that hour and in that direction?
I'm traveling on my own dime for a meeting with a company that only barely exists and trying to keep costs under control on this mostly speculative endeavour. |

Off the top of my head, your cheapest option is likely to be taking the FlyAway bus to Van Nuys and Uber it from there. Another possibility, and I'm not sure of the schedule, is to take the FlyAway bus to Union Station and Metrolink (Ventura or Antelope Valley lines) from there to Burbank. |
Huh?
I've used Uber from LAX twice in the last month. |
Oh I see, UberPool is only for UberX. That never occurred to me.

It was Uber Black, I just didn't know that UberPool was limited to UberX only when I asked the question.

Lyft can pick up at LAX starting 12/23/15
Lyft can pick you up at LAX starting Wednesday <snip> Just in time for the holiday traveling crush, Lyft's low-cost drivers can begin picking up travelers at 8 a.m. Wednesday, City Hall officials announced. The agreement is a coup for Lyft, which will be the only ride-share company picking up at LAX during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year. <snip> The Silicon Valley company's main competitor, Uber, has not yet received the green light for its drivers to pick up at the airport. An Uber representative did not return a request seeking comment on when the company expects to begin operating at LAX. Passengers will be able to hail a ride using Lyft's smartphone app, then follow signs marked "ride service" to the upper departures level, where drivers will be waiting. The company originally opposed the upper-level requirement because riders will have to carry their luggage upstairs from baggage claim. <snip> |
Now I will have to download Lyft app. I just tried Uber this year and it was awesome.

Lyft Drivers Now Legally Allowed To Pick Up, Drop Off Passengers At LAX <snip> Starting at 8 a.m., drivers were able to begin picking up travelers from the upper departure level of the airport, just in time for the busy holiday season. <snip> Passengers who request a ride from the airport will be charged a $4 fee to use the ride sharing service. <snip> Lyft Becomes First Rideshare Company To Begin Pickups, Drop-Offs At LAX <snip> The Lyft app won’t activate until they are on the curbside and ready to go. And there will be a $4 fee that goes to the airport. <snip> |

Any updates on Uber pickups at LAX?
