Last week, took 50 minutes from the In-n-Out to Terminal 4 😐

With the upcoming lane closures, any advice on how to do drop offs and pick ups? Are there any magic spots that could be easier than entering the Thunderdome? Or just plan for the time? Think elderly mother with luggage and younger person with carry on only, both scenarios.

The lane closures are only overnight, no earlier than 11:30 pm and no later than 6:00 am.

If you need to drop off or pick up people during those hours, I recommend using the Economy Parking structure. We regularly use the LAX shuttle buses between the parking structure and the terminal even when not parking there. We drop off or pick up on 94th Street. The shuttles pick up and drop off passengers at the side of the facility opposite the entrance - the southeast corner below the APM station - and use the inner roadway in the horseshoe.

I'd think an easier drop off and less walking would be the LAX/Metro Transit Center Station (https://maps.app.goo.gl/QkPvPGVpCV5f974XA) and simply pickup the bus to the Terminals.

It's a good alternative, however, it is almost twice as far from the central terminal area compared to the Economy Parking facility and the shuttles from the Transit Center to the terminals use Century Blvd., which is much busier than 96th St. and Vicksburg Ave. that the Economy Parking Shuttle buses use.

But the OP was indicating elderly mother with luggage (+kid as well) so would think less walking to bus beats longer bus ride. As well as how to drop off at opposite side of Economy Parking structure and having to get them to navigate vehicle traffic and directions within the structure (while also having a car camped out on 94th Street without a driver).

There is a north/south walkway on the first level of the parking structure to access the escalators; it goes from the 94th street former bus entrance to where the buses currently pick up and drop off passengers. There is no need to navigate around vehicle traffic. Also, abaheti mentioned a "younger person with carry on only", not "a kid", in addition to his elderly mother.

As I wrote above, it's a good alternative, however, I prefer the Economy Parking structure to the Transit Center for picking up and dropping off passengers, and have used it numerous times for that purpose.

I walked from Century/Sepulveda to T4 on Sunday morning 8AM because traffic was already beyond congested. I followed the sidewalk instead of cutting thru the middle because I had intended to use the TBIT arrival TSA. Turned out TBIT arrival TSA was closed at that time so I had to hoof an extra 3 minutes to T4 TSA. All in, it was a nice 20 minute walk which is way faster than sitting in the car to reach T4. Once I got past T4 TSA, I got a notification that my AA flight to MIA got delayed so I went to the Amex lounge in TBIT. So in retrospect, I would have shaved off maybe 3 minutes just walking to TBIT main TSA.

Having done the walking thing now for 3 straight trip, I now recommend walking as the most efficient way to reach all the terminals unless you are getting dropped off at 3AM for some reason.

If you are coming from the north, there is a unused bus stop on south bound Sepulveda just before the tunnel that you can get dropped off - the down side is the person dropping you off has to go thru the tunnel. Alternatively, you can also get dropped at the Cell Phone waiting lot just off Sepulveda (use the 2nd airport entrance on south bound Sepulveda) and you can then cut across the LAXit lot to get to T1. Person dropping you off can then use Skyway/Vicksberg to loop back on Sepulveda north and avoid going thru the tunnel. If you are coming from the east, getting dropped off at the Hyatt on Century is just as easy as coming from the north.

If you are coming from the south, I think the best way is to go thru the tunnel and turning right on 98th street and again on Vicksberg and get dropped off at the Hyatt.

Thanks, all, helpful. My language was confusing -- I have two passengers on two separate trips to figure out. Younger person is adult, meant to contrast with elderly. Regardless this is all really helpful. For elderly, yes less walking is preferred and worth a longer bus ride. For younger (or my wife and me), a walk is fine. You all have me covered!
