T5 reconstruction is moving forward, per the latest Board of Airport Commissioners agenda:

A few other items of note on there as well -- light refreshes of T2/T6/TBIT, as well as additional info on post-APM ConRAC operations

Any sense of square footage for the lounge spaces? Curious if *A decides to shut down TBIT lounge and (re)open in T9.

Back in September, 2024, construction of Terminal 9 has been put on indefinite hold. Please refer to page 20 of this thread.

Wow, stumbled across this concessions plan for the West Gates from a few years ago. Whatever happened to opening a Jollibee!

Lots of movement from this week's BOAC agenda. T5 reconstruction diligently progressing, renovations to T2 & TBIT ticket counters going ahead, and the new entrance roadway construction taking a major step forward.

No mention of Hawaiian moving into T6, however, as has been mentioned on other threads/forums.

It's official:

Starting April 22, Hawaiian Airlines (@hawaiianairlines) will begin operating out of Terminal 6 at LAX.

If you’re flying with Hawaiian, be sure to head to Terminal 6 for check-in, departures, and arrivals.

This is the most tangible benefit of the merger from my perspective :D T6 is much easier than MSC.

My wife insists we walk to one of the taxi spots no matter where what terminal we land in at LAX. Avoiding the LAX-it shuttle and process is worth it. I wonder if the new people mover thing will let us access the LAX-It lot and skip the shuttle bus?

I believe LAX-it will be replaced once the people mover and off-site facilities are operational.
I’ve asked taxi and ride share drivers how they are going to operate after the updates and they say they haven’t been told.

The Auxiliary Curbs at ITF West, where the LAX Economy Parking facility is located, will serve as the main connection point for passengers using rideshare services.

ITF West, planned roughly a half-mile away at 9319 S. Airport Boulevard, would replace an existing Avis rental car lot, which is being relocated into the consolidated rental car facility - or Conrac. The west facility is intended as the primary queuing location for Uber, Lyft, and other transportation network companies, as well as shuttle buses and taxis. Similar to its sibling, plans call for metal canopy shelters, seating, charging stations, and public restrooms located in the adjoining economy lot parking garage.

What types of traffic are going to be allowed inside the horseshoe after the improvements are completed?

LIH_LAX Sep 9, 2025 10:40 am

Implied by this article from today, taxis, limos, private cars, and rideshare for an additional fee (at least for arrivals).
Taxis will pick up at ITF West too -- I assume like rideshare they'll be cheaper out there vs. pickups in the horseshoe.

Here's a look at the planned refresh of LAX's central terminal area.

Better lighting, gathering areas, and new landscaping.

My National car rental shuttle drove past this structure last week. Wow. It is massive. How well this plan works will likely depend on how frequently the trains run. I might also be concerned about localized traffic around the facility.
