Rest of cards don't help my hand.

I have about 1/4 of the chips, another guy has 1/4, the leader has about 1/2. Mind you--the winner gets $2200, 2nd gets $1500, 3rd gets $750, so I'm thinking that even if I can't catch the guy leading, just let the other dude get knocked out first and get into second as it's another $750. Well they deal, blinds are pretty high, the leader folds, so it's just me and the guy that I am tied with. I have pocket aces. I put a big bet out there and he goes in with me. Flop comes down--3 10's. So I'm thinking that unless that guy is holding a 10, I've got this won. He puts a decent bet forward--and I've watched how this guy has played all tourney and know that if he's got something he's likely going to go all in or not bet and try to trap me. So I know he's got something, but not better than my pocket aces. So I go all in. He goes with me, we flip em over and he's got pocket jacks. Nice. Turn comes down something harmless. Then the river gets flipped over--jack. His jacks over 10s beats my tens over aces. I'm left with 1 chip which I lose shortly afterwards. I was one card away from being about tied with the leader and going after the main prize of $2200, but that card relegated me to $750.
I HATE pocket Aces!!!
I think I've played them every which way, aggressive preflop, on the flop etc...Slow played them too and I feel like I always get them cracked. My last frustrating experience the flop showed a 3rd Ace, diamonds, and another diamond, turn was a 3rd diamond, yep you guessed it...Beaten by the Ace high flush.
The last tourney I played was paying to 3 places and I was in the final 4. I get Kowboys in position...Yeah I'm stoked, the 1st player folds, 2nd calls, 3rd raises 2x the blind and I re-raise 5x the blinds, 2nd folds, 3rd calls. Flop is A,K,K. 3rd goes all in, I call, she shows the boat A's full of K's and just about throws a tantrum when I show the quads. She went out, I'm in the money and ended up 2nd.
I think I'm just gonna fold the rockets from now on

One thing I've noticed about pocket aces or kings is that whenever someone loses with them, just about everyone weighs in on how they were misplayed. Sometimes they are misplayed, but as the JJJ 10 10 vs. 10 10 10 AA full house story above reveals, quite often they are played perfectly but unluckily.
Even with perfect play, you will lose hands in Hold 'em. Everyone seems to know that, but they often seem to forget it. Decisions should be judged based on the bets, odds, pot and the circumstances before additional cards are drawn.

oh and the sickest beat i ever saw someone take was when a friend of mine lost after flopping the low end of a straight flush when the board came 9 10 J against the other guys AK flush, all the money goes in on the turn (brick) and the river gives the other guy the royal flush when the Q came...
Aceman's friend's beat reminds me of an online "bad beat" video I saw on YouTube, except that I totally believe Aceman and the video is such an obvious fake that it's laughable. Here's the link for your enjoyment (or scorn, as the case may be):

I inflicted the worst bad beat I've seen on a play money table:
P1: KK
P2: AA
P3: QT
ME: 26
OK, So I was tired of playing in this game so after P1 raised, P2 reraised, and P3 went all-in, I called and so did the first two players.
Flop comes K74 .. good flop for the pocket kings
Turn comes A ... good turn for the pocket aces
River comes J ... good river for the QT (who now has a straight)
EXCEPT
4AJ are all the same suit as my 26.. and I win with the flush. LOL. Free poker is so stupid
At a real table the worst beats I've experienced is when I've had KK vs K6 and the person hits two 6s to win.. but .. it happens!

Saw the sickest BB in a while. I wasn't in the hand just at a 1-2 NL table.
There was a raise to $15 pre-flop and just 1 caller. Flop comes A, K, 6 - rainbow. Bet $20, raise to $50 re-raise all in, call. They flip AA, KK, both flopped the set. Turn comes blank, river comes K.

I get the mighty AA. I re-raise before the flop, which comes up AQT. I push all-in and get a call from a guy who is pot-committed with 99. I figure that unless he hits a straight I'm golden. The turn comes up 9, giving him a set, but I'm still well ahead... damned if the case 9 didn't come up on the river.
I figure it'll be a long time before I experience a worse beat than that.

If you play enough, it's just going to happen. I've handed out and received my fair share of bad beats though just like anyone else who's sat down at the table long enough. It usually evens out in the long run. It's the main reason I usually stick to low blinds. I won't get all bent out of shape if I drop a max of around 150 on a hand.

Yes, this is an excellent strategy. If successful, you will be left with only players at the table who are better than you. I see this as quite profitable for - oh, wait.

As bluesincenew likes to note, the roulette wheel is shaped like a funnel for a reason, so you can watch your money go down the drain into the casino's pockets.

I think you need to do exactly the opposite and say "wow great call" or "whoa, you've got cajones my friend" so that you get paid when he makes his next donkey call and his 3-9 offsuit that he called your raise on preflop and out of position dosen't fill up.
