I'm headed to Vegas over the July 4th holiday weekend for two nights. I'm looking for a full service resort and my preferences are: plenty of onsite restaurants, nice pool and gym, bars, casino. I'm not looking for the Circus Circus or Tropicana crowd but not super expensive either.
MGM? Caesars? Luxor? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Apparently it looks something like this:

I was there the week of March 8 just as everything started to go to hell. My last night I skipped a prepaid show bc the idea of sitting in a crowded room was too much for me.

I think I counted 3 or 4 visitors total wearing masks in that entire video (yes, most employees were wearing facial coverings) and none of the plastic dividers that were discussed. That to me is quite concerning, considering how many tightly bunched up groups are shown in different sections of the casino. So much for easing back into things.

I booked a $77/night rate (plus tax and RF) the Mirage, 7/2-7/4 directly on the hotel's website. Their AA rate was considerably lower than hotel.com's best rate and this place looks nice with everything either inside or close by. My only concern is they aren't currently open LOL I see other neighboring MGM resorts are open but not this property. Are they waiting for the city to approve or internally? If they are still closed by then I *assume* they will accommodate me at another (open) MGM resort and honor my price? Who knows.

Mirage is close to my favorite sleazebag casino--Casino Royale. Dump but I love gambling there--be sure to get a players card there right away...you get $25 free play and comps for food (albeit junk food) come very fast.
You are leaving on the 4th? You won't be there for fireworks--Vegas does a good job with them.

I thought you were doing PH. Keep checking the rates and the rewards program. I have heard that they will accommodate you elsewhere---I guess they are testing the waters and will decide when it gets closer if they have enough interest to open now. Vegas just opened...I think there will be daily changes as they work through this. I can't believe that they aren't waving resort fees for a while.

Thanks for the tips--I will walk over to Casino Royale and get a players card.

I choose it because it had good reviews and about $75 less than PH. I also like that's it's close walking to everything. and has 11 restaurants. It's GOT to be better than the Tropicana I stayed at last year. That room was a dump.

Mirage > PH > Tropicana. The Trop may be the worst place I ever stayed on the Strip, though Vegas World (on the site now occupied by the Strat) wasn't far behind. Mirage was near the top of the heap when it opened in late 80s, but has long since been surpassed by the newer properties. That said the pool, rooms and restaurants are perfectly serviceable. I can't say the same about the Trop.

For me it was the Sahara (the old pre-shutdown/pre-SLS version) in 2006 (I think). It was my first time in Vegas, and I enjoyed it, but only because I didn't know any better. Didn't realize how much of a dump it was until I stayed in better places on subsequent trips. Haven't seen the new version yet, though.

My first time in Vegas was at the (old) Imperial Palace (now the Linq) in 1993. That place was a dump. Even the Trop in 1995 was better than the IP! The Trop pool has always been a fun place to hang out, though admittedly have not been there in years. I actually alternate now between downtown and the strip. Downtown when I'm with my father (who just can't walk the miles on the strip) and Cosmo when I'm with my wife. Great to sit outside on the balcony and watch the fountains with a beverage of choice. Mirage will be fun too. Great pool, many restaurants, rooms are somewhat small by today's standards but perfectly serviceable and an easy walk to many different casinos/attractions.
