Responsible snacking
"Responsible snacking on board KLM
Fair Trade chocolate is now available for KLM passengers on board. KLM strives to be at the forefront of corporate social responsibility and the idea of having ‘honest’ chocolate on board came from one of KLM’s cabin crew.
“We are carrying more and more sustainable and responsible products on board, and the Verkade chocolate bars really fit within this product range”, explains flight attendant Maaike Carli-Yang. When she wrote to management about the Fair Trade chocolate, the ball started rolling. KLM was already serving ‘honest’ coffee and sustainably caught fish on board."

It's only a tinful of people!
As for the sustainable snacks, on my last longhaul I took a nap after dinner. Feeling a little peckish after awakening it turned out that the only (last?) available snackbox had been almost emptied by hungry passengers before me.
My strategy this far has usually been to find something edible in the lounge and discard the inedble parts of the inflight meals. When (not if) I will lose my lounge priviledges I will most likely resort to Johan's strategy: packing enough nuts and chocolate bars to sustain the sporadic KL flights I will be taking in the future.
Come on KL, you can get your chocolates from any non-melamine adding supplier as far as I'm concerned! Now how about a sustainable and fair FB program?

BTW, I can't remember when is the last time I saw fish - sustainable or otherwise - on a Y class menu on KLM. Have I just been unlucky to receive offers of chicken or pasta all the time? Wouldn't 'social corporate responsibility' include helping passengers to stay healthy regarding of their travel class?

But isn't that an oxymoron? However, sustainably caught TUCs ...
