Incorrect name on reservation.
I bought a ticket from NWA when I was in the states in May for travel from BHX to BKK. When I got home to the UK, I realised that they had made a spelling mistake on my surname and one of the letters was incorrect.
I called NWA and they re-issued the ticket with the same PNR number but with the correct surname. This was verified when I checked the booking on the KLM website the same day.
However, I checked the reservation again yesterday and it has been changed back to the incorrect name. I called NWA and they said it didn't matter and that I could use the same booking. They could not shed any light on why they originally changed the ticket and why it had changed back again.
I'm not sure about this. If the name on my ticket doesn't match my passport how will I get through passport control at Birmingham or Bangkok ?
Also will I get the airmiles credited to my account? I am FB platinum and get upgraded about 50% of the time, if my reservation name does not match my FB account name, will my chances of an op-up be screwed ?

For your miles the name is not important, so long as the number is correct there will be no issue.
What you need to make sure is that your boarding passes have the correct spelling on them. This you might only find out at the airport, but they should be able to alter it there and since it was their mistake you should not be liable for any fees either.

AFAIK this is not a huge deal with proper annotation in your PNR. There seem to be lots of mistakes in this area because the bulk of the planets' population has their name translated into the latin alphabet on their tickets (from 100's of languages with different alphabets) - Airlines seem to expect occassional mistakes.
