AMS Lounge under COVID-19
Hi all,

Can anyone share your experience in the AMS crown lounge under COVID-19?

Latest info I've found: only non-schengen lounge is operating, only coffee/tea served. How about shower facilities?

Showers are also available for free( some guests have lengthy lay overs nowadays , rest cabins can be hired for day use
Coffee tea water and some packed snacks available.

Showers have always been free, also pre-covid. The change during covid (in this case a positive one) is that they're actually available :-)

No Heineken available in the KLM flagship lounge at the premier Dutch airport?

Oh when I last went in the lounge only water was available with paper cups , so coffee is an improvement. Perhaps to encourage those willing to spent €35 to get in

I would have thought that cans of beer would be virus friendly.
Just dump a case of Heineken in the lounge and ask customers to serve themselves.
Wipe the can down before use.
No glasses, just drink from the can, then throw the empty can in a nearby recycling bin.

I think alcohol in general is now seen as someone to wash hands with, but not to drink. I am sure this will change back to normal at some point, but in the short term I can understand the logic.

Drunk passangers become unrully and are an infection hazzard.

I have never seen any drunk person in one of KL's lounges, nor in any other airline lounge. I think there are far greater infection hazards out there. Rabid dogs, for example.

I understand that the shared bottles are a risk. But I don't understand why they wouldn't offer served alcohol, as does the ZRH Aspire lounge which is also used by KL.

Cost cutting, pure and simple. Their financial situation is dire, so they are reducing expenditure in every way they possibly can. Covid gets the blame, even when that makes no sense. For example, on longhaul flights J pax get the same hot meal as those in Y. They could of course serve something a bit fancier in WBC (as far as I'm aware, most viruses do not have a preference for hitching rides on tastier food), but a penny saved . . .

There is some merrit to it, but i wouldnt make that call.

Imagine being pissed of because they closed to gate early with and without 7 beers.
