I bet KLM is the only airline in the world that charges money for an apology!

Schiphol has hit upon the bright idea of employing "health observers". These indivuals will ambulate through the terminals, searching for passengers and staff who are showing "symptoms of disease". What they will do once they find a diseased person is unclear.

Seriously, I'm not making this up! No doubt this innovative approach will cause the pandemic to vanish overnight. Somebody should nominate the airport for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine!

This is truly unbelievable. A citizen has the absolute right to freely enter and leave their country, at least my passports that I hold entitle me to do so, with the 2 countries I hold passports of.

These tyrants in uniform have to be called out and examples made of them. Why not complain to the French Immigration department (or equivalent) with the time, location and name of the officer involved? Even if you don't remember the name, they have CCTV footage.

Tyrant: a ruler who has unlimited power over other people, and uses it unfairly and cruelly.

I think the police officer was young (hence maybe the reason there was a more senior officer behind the set of 2 officers. I was ready to start arguing with her for sure as it would be unconstitutional to deny my entry. But the senior officer behind immediately corrected her after she asked and stated that no matter where the passport was issued (Amsterdam in my case), since it was a French passport there was no issue entering for any reason and since I was coming from the EU no quarantine period had to be followed. So at the end, not much to complain about. But I was ready to argue for sure. 😃

I just boarded KL1416 in LYS now, just in case you fly from France, it seems that only surgical type masks are allowed (and not my washable mask I had on the way to come here). When I checked my bag in, a friendly AF agent told me that I needed to change my mask for a surgical type one, and fortunately I had a couple with me. Looks like it's mostly for AF operated flights though, KLM once on board seems fine With any type of masks. No lounge in LYS open, and they asked us to fill in a form in French and English which they haven't picked up. However, the gate staff started their announcement by saying that I was good to see passengers back and thanked us for travelling today. I also saw the flight attendants and some ground staff handling the Lufthansa cityline flight from and to MUC taking selfies together (they are parked next to us). Travel is slowly picking up...

Thanks for the feedback palmanfr.
Did you get any information about when the LYS lounge should re-open? My understanding was that french lounges were supposed to start operating again starting June 16th...

for the CDG AF lounges, some recent news were posted in the lounge thread in the AF sub-forum.

Not to go too far off topic, but can confirm that:
  • From CDG, AF didn't care which kind each had,
  • From MPL, while boarding, they distributed surgical type ones to people that had other types, as it's "our standard".
Almost on-topic: the MPL lounge is still closed, no reopening date announced at the door.

The lady at check-in told me that the lounge will not reopen in the "near future". For the face masks in LYS I am not sure if they were providing any free of charge. The vending machines were selling 5 masks for 5 and a kit containing 2 masks and 1 hand sanitizer gel for something like 4. The relay shop was selling boxes of 50 face masks for 45 IIRC.
