Hm, good to know, so JFK is not the last scheduled one.
I am in 1A, which I was really happy with, as 1A on the last flight is really cool But might need to revise my plans now.

Edit: I see the 747 is scheduled on both JFK and PBM on the 3rd, which suggests that they will still have 2 Queens. I guess they will be around for a little while more.

I think so.. Pretty sure this JFK flight won't be the last then, and canceling is still free. Let's see what the new schedule tomorrow brings.
I think JFK is more likely to be the last flight though, due to it being a more prestigious route and of course due to the historical value of the route to NYC.

Isn't a 21.30 red-eye flight not the most memorable though? If they applied the usual schedule it would be lights down for the most of it. What sort of schedules have previous final flights been? Not that they would necessairly schedule a convenient last flight but hey

From the MD-11 it was Montreal. Early night flight with before-sunrise landing, does not seem very memorial either.
But if it's either PBM or JFK, neither of them has festive timings (although solid jetlag-timings). Better take the afternoon flight from JFK then.

Award tickets are always full-flex, so you can just call them up to cancel them for a fee (25 bucks or something?).

If you cancel today, 24hr, no charge. Afterwards it is €50. Fyi

but....

the last flight of a KL747

probably will be on the same date day/month they received the first 747-100 and perhaps that will be a return from New York. (The received the first one in the winter of ‘71). First commercial service was to New York.

then KLM can truly say they have flown the 747 for 50 years.

I flew JFK-AMS KL642 on Saturday, April 17th, 1971. Departure 6.30 p.m., arrival 7.25 a.m. PH-BUA "Mississippi". B747-206B, KLM's first. Delivered January 31st, 1971. First commercial flight was on Valentine's Day.

As an aside, back then a return AMS-JFK-AMS in F cost 3,776.-- Dutch guilders. In 1971 the average monthly gross paycheck was 1,080.-- guilders (720 guilders net).

my first flight ever as 3 month old baby was in Jan 1977. There is a picture of me on my mother’s lap in row one of KL747. They came from Taiwan but probably connected via HKG, SIN, BKK?? They do not know.

sadly I am to big to sit on my mother’s lap now but she would not mind a spring return in J from NYC to be on the last flight!

I was hoping to book an award flight from LAX sometime this year, but it seems it is already not being flown regularly anymore. Is there a site that I can see the dates that a 747 will be used?

HKG or BKK, most likely. I don't have a '77 timetable, but earlier that decade KLM did not fly to TPE, they partnered with Garuda. The latter had a flight TYO-TPE-HKG-BKK-JKT, so four aiports with KL connections to/from AMS. In the early 80s KLM flew AMS-VIE-DXB-BKK-TPE.
