Post Office EMS

Just had a nice bloke from the post office knock on the door and give me an info pack about this http://www.ems-post.jp/index.php?lan...A7%BB%E5%8B%95
He said it was something I might be interested in, could have knocked me over with a feather, great service. Anyway this part of the web-site caught my eye for those FTers not in Japan but craving things Japanese.

Ah, they allow you to ship "Japanese Culture" through the service? I suppose that's why so many older Japanese are complaining about the loss of culture in the youth today - it's being shipped out via EMS!

(BTW - I first thought that they were training postal employees in emergency medical services (EMS), to take the burden off hospitals or something.)

EMS is pretty handy, especially when you've neglected to send your Xmas packages early.

Yeah, I was pretty amazed at how fast I could get stuff to the US with it, particularly when I worked near the International Post Office in Otemachi.

I agree it is a very good service. With heavier packages it can be both cheaper and faster to use.

No service is perfect. My friend used to be in charge of the EMS section of the Japan post office. He told me about the time that a luggage cart transfering packages from a plane to the SF terminal was accidentally misplaced for over a year.
