Where can I store baggage at NRT [Master Thread]
I'm landing in NRT on Monday and leaving on Friday. I come in on AA Terminal 1 and leave on Friday through JAL in terminal 2.
Since I have three weeks worth of luggage for my final destination, and only need 3 days worth in Tokyo, I was going to leave my luggage in the left luggage area. Should I leave it in Terminal 1 (where I arrive) or Terminal 2 to make it easier on my return?
I thought about landing / immigration / customs and then taking the shuttle to terminal 1, but I'm not sure if you can board the shuttle after going through all of that or whether you can only transit from "within" the secure areas. Are there shuttles after you get through everything, or are they only for same day transfers?

If you arrive on AA, I think you can only clear passport control/customs at Terminal 1.
After clearing them, I would just go to Terminal 2 on a free shuttle bus (roughly one in 10 minutes frequency) and leave baggage there and then off to Tokyo on a train/bus.

Be prepared to pay a lot!
I havne't left bags at NRT for a long time, as the last time I did it (terminal 1), it was something like Yen1200 per bag, per day, and a new day starts at midnight. So if you get in at 10 pm, go into Tokyo and come back the next afternoon, each bag will cost you Yen2400..... 20 bucks or more. I'm not sure what the charge is now --- any one know?

I think you had bigger bags than usual, my impression was it was Y500 per CALENDAR day (as you noted, drop on Monday, pick up Tuesday, it's 2 days). It still is pretty pricey. It's also a hassle to take it between terminals.
I'd be tempted to carry it into Tokyo, and use the money saved on a locker to take a taxi to/from the train station if you take the train in. If you take the airport limousine to your hotel, then there is no extra hassle although there is a moderate extra charge for each piece over 2, I believe.

Only had a few hours during my layover, so headed to Narita (the town) via the train from Terminal 2.
Of course I realized I had my large carryon that I forgot to leave in a locker when I got off the train, but as luck would have it there were lockers right at the Narita train station (well more like a subway - light rail station).
The smallest locker went for 300 Yen, the larger for more. Since I didn't leave my stuff at NRT airport, can't say how the price compares, or if the lockers are available at all stations.

Bumping this up since I have a similar situation
very short visit to japan, want to dump some of my bags, arriving T2, leaving from T2
It appears there are lockers in NRT T2
http://www.narita-airport.jp/en/guid...svc_07_t2.html
But my questions are these:
* do these lockers take bills?...I don't expect to have a load of coins quite so soon after my arrival
* I presume you pay up front
Thanks

Coin lockers are pretty good for single day storage - but in many of those cases, you could check your bags through to the final destination. In the event you need to store bags overnight, the locker will charge you for two days. (and in many cases it would also be possible to just check the bags through).
To use the locker you have to pay the daily fee up front (mostly coins only - some "advanced" ones will let you pay wiith a SUICA). If you come back the next day, it will demand another day's worth of "rent" before allowing you to unlock it.
For more than a couple of days, you need to be aware that coin lockers get emptied out at some point. (I think it may be after the third day). So they aren't an option for longer term storage.

How short is your stay CVO?

depart NRT wedsday july 30 @ 1555
According to the website link I posted the max is 3 days which seems to fit reasonably.
My logic is this..I haven't been back to japan for years, I've got a limited time and a lot I'd like to do and people to visit. My agenda is something like this (not quite firm)..
monday - NEX to yokohama (arr approx 1908), check into hotel, out to old izakaya haunt
tuesday - Keikyu to yokosuka to visit friends, then to haneda for flight to sapporo & shinkansen to hakodate (couldn't get the early direct flight I wanted to hako so I'm going this route which gets me to hako sooner)
weds - hako > haneda > maybe akihabara if I can fit it in > NRT > HKG > MAA
So it's only 2 nites but I'm on the first leg of a RTW ticket with more to go so my bag is going to be somewhat heavy and it's not a rollaboard...it also means I can safely carry on for my hokkaido flights.....whew!

There are also staffed (I assume) baggage storage facilities.

It is definitely easier to leave your bag at Narita left luggage (which has human attendants). Even with less than 3 days at a coin locker, there is a chance that they could remove it somewhere and you would have to spend time finding where in the airport it is being stored. The left luggage places, while maybe a bit pricier, are used to these longer uses.

CVO - Your plan makes sense. The coin lockers won't take notes. So you'll need coins. You might find that the large ones are all taken. (Very unlikely that you'll fit your bag into a small one). In that case, you can leave the bags at a delivery company counter (with human beings).

The other issue with the larger lockers is finding one, you can be walking around for a bit to find an unused one especially if you don't know where they are located. Not something you want after a flight.
Last time I checked luggage it was 500yen a day for a large suitbag, top price you can pay is 800yen. They did ask me what terminal I was leaving from so like most left lugagge places I would assume you can drop off at one terminal and pick up at another. The question you have to ask yourself is how much hassle/risk do you want to save 5-10 dollars?

baggage storage at Narita for several days
1. I'll have a 5-hour layover in Narita (arriving on United from HNL on way to BKK). Is it possible to store a small bag that I will hand carry from Hnl for 12 days for pick up on return from BKK? Would I need to clear customs?
2. Is it possible to store a 25" suitcase for 6 days? Will be arriving on United from BKK and don't want to take it with me while touring in Japan. Will need to check it on United flight to HNL.
If yes, how would I do it, where, and about how much would it cost.
Thanks.
P.S. Apologies if this is not the correct way to ask questions--my first posting--have been lurking for a while.
