One of the very few colorful winter illuminations I've seen in Japan. Certainly more interesting to view than the typical (and boring) mono- or bi-colored winter illuminations so common here.

Tokyo Winter Illuminations
Spent 3 nights in Tokyo and visited some gardens in the morning, then winter illuminations at night.
A selection of photos https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fb8fa9e836.jpg The White Kitte iluuminations in the Kitte building across the road from the Marunouchi south entrance to Tokyo station. The lights changed colours with the band round the tree having moving lights effects and music playing regularly. Good rooftop garden on 6th floor with nice views of the tokyo station plaza and the facade https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1ebbe87619.jpg The display at Marunouchi Oazo building. This years theme was based on Super Mario with pop up shops and lots of photo opportunities as well as places to get stamps. Interesting but I think i preferred the 2023 frozen theme with christmas trees https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c6e28e114b.jpg The marunouchi bright holiday display and stamp location map https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...20f0258783.jpg The Marunouchi Street park area. Lots of illuminated trees and small carousels and small food trucks from hotels ( ie Imperial palace) selling hot drinks and small cakes/sweets. Tried some and it was very good) https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1bc445bd94.jpg The Tiffany & co display https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e04cd504ef.jpg The Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan illumination by Yurakucho station with illuminated trees on the side streets https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1e2f4cc916.jpg Outisde the Tokyo Midtown Hibiya shopping centre. The christmas trees are based on the Disney movie Moana 2. The steps up changed colours. Music based on Moana 2 ( japanese version) https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...649f857ee0.jpg The 6th floor of the Tokyo Midtown hibiya complex had restaurants as well as a sky garden with illuminated paths and the lawn covered with LED lights that changed colour https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...01952eb0cf.jpg The train decorated for the winter illuminations situated outside Shimbashi JR station. Santa driving the train and music played out of the speakers. Lots of people taking phots ( inc commuters heading for the trains after going out after work) https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...11e78b12af.jpg A small display of illuminations by the Old Shimbashi railway station close to the panasonic station and a few minutes walk from the Conrad (passed by it en route to the Don Quijote store to buy Japanese Kit Kats ) The next evening I went to Shinjuku,Tokyo Midtown and roppongi hills . Will post a few of the winter illuminations there later) Regards TBS |

This picture is stunning. My wife who spends hours to get her kimonos just right might complain -- but even she thinks the picture is incredible.

Thank you! Ichiyuki San looked lovely, and she was a pleasure to work with. Here's another photo that shows off her beautiful kimono.

Very nice to walk around. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...29265dfda0.jpg Further down the Shinjuku southern terrace https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5389ce9433.jpg The Shinjuku Minamillumi decorations and the NTT docomo tower https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...297ce6a3e2.jpg omotesando street illuminations https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2d64bcbbd0.jpg The polo ralph lauren display https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...03c15fd2bc.jpg The omotesando hills shopping centre illuminations https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6eee84ef36.jpg Some of the illuminations on the outside of Tokyo Midtown plaza in Roppongi ( outdoor skating rink was also here) .Fake fog also generated occasionally https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d91b57658d.jpg Inside tokyo midtown ( galleria) https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ef90cbacae.jpg Another christmas tree in tokyo midtown with lots of small toy gnomes https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3b8bdb5fdb.jpg Some of the illuminated trees by the Mori Tower in Roppongi hills ( christmas market also here) https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...31f0a46dc6.jpg The Mhori garden in Roppongi hills with the Dior christmas tree ( also a Dior stand in the plaza nearby). Lots of beautiful colours on the trees ( worthwhile to come back during the day also) https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4fcc7ea2d8.jpg View of Keyakizaka Street Roppongi Hills from the overhead walkway with tokyo tower in the distance. Traffic guards controlling the pedestrian crossing flow across the road https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ce1f61e012.jpg The food stands at the Roppongi Hills christmas market ( closed when i visited) Lots of illuminations to see in Tokyo at this time of year so with only a few days, some choices may need to be made. A busy few days but well worth it The next day , I went to Tokyo dome city and back to Tokyo station and Tokyo midtown hibiya ( photos to follow later) Regards TBS |
