Three hours is plenty of time at the airport. I prefer two, but everyone is different. Depending on how you’re travelling to NRT, your departure time might depend on the schedule of the limousine bus from your hotel or the train from the nearest station. Check Google maps for directions from your hotel.

Hi,
Also depending on the airline, check in desks may only open 3 hours prior to departure ( ANA and JAL would be open all day being their main airports) ( Singapore airlines desks open 3 hours prior to departure Airport check-in | Singapore Airlines Regards TBS Would also like to make a stop at Traveler’s Notebook NRT corner store. |

Any recommendations for NRT lounge for SQ J (and *A Gold) pax? Anything noteworthy?
Would also like to make a stop at Traveler’s Notebook NRT corner store. |
Thanks. Will do my best to investigate and report back with any DP I may get.
(Theoretically) *A Gold should be enough to get in, right? |

Near as I can tell SQ12 uses Terminal 1 gate 42 at NRT.
TK lounge appears to be near gate 47. Are these locations in relative close proximity to each other? (I would think so but I am unclear of the meaning “satellite” and if both gate 42 and 47 are in this same remote area or if rather it’s just 47) thanks! |

As planned visited the TK *A lounge Friday afternoon at NRT. This lounge has operating hours for most of the day (despite what I understand to be only 1 TK departure per day right now). Pretty space. Clearly, a new lounge. There was plenty of seating of all types (work seats and leisure seats). The lounge was not overcrowded. There was one area of food that had two different sections of food options. All self serve. Right next to that is drinks. All self serve booze, soda, and coffee/tea. There is a self service Turkish Coffee machine with (in my experience) the typical, "very general" TK esque instructions. For this coffee machine the user scoops however much they want to scoop....and this is inline with what the directions suggest...so I did a hefty scoop and my resulting coffee tasted like garbage. In hindsight, I would not do any scoop that is "overflowing." I would do <= to the volume of the scoop itself. Also, for the self service Sake dispensers, you have to "push up" on both ends of the black part to get the liquid to come out. That was not clear to me. Food was "average to good" with some fresh dishes (humus). Notably, the "pide oven" is very much not self serve. Behind the food area is a few steps up and there is a window into the kitchen. There were two folks in there seemingly making Pide continuously. It was served on a small platter that stays at this window. Three flavors. Cheese, meat, spinach. About 10 or so small slices of pide per tray - and that's it. In getting two slices each for P2 and I -- I took about half the platter. Additionally, there is some level of "competition" amongst my fellow passengers for this pide and it took me a couple of cycles to get a serving. Pide was fine but certainly nothing like live food areas at IST lounge. Showers were good. No issues. After about an hour or so P2 and I were kind of done and still had some time to kill so we mosey'd down to United Club and sat there for a half hour or so. Compared to the handful of other international *A lounges I have been to I would say this one is "average." Compared to the significant amount of domestic USA United Clubs I have been to I would say this one is "good." In the current state I wouldn't go out of my way to go back here unless it operationally made sense for my departing flight (which admittedly in this case it did for me). Would be interested in going back once the "second stage" of this lounge is complete. TL;DR: Temper expectations. Current status is nothing like IST J lounge. Hope this DP helps some folks out! |
I have booked a domestic flight with Japan Airlines (JAL), connecting to an international flight with All Nippon Airways (ANA) at Haneda Airport, all under a single ticket with Lufthansa. This was not the original plan, but as Lufthansa has cancelled one of the original flights, this was the only option.
The layover is only 2h and I recently found out that there is a very high probability that my checked baggage will not be transferred automatically from the JAL domestic flight to the ANA international flight, and that I will have to pick them up and check them again. I have checked this with both JAL and ANA. JAL says there is a chance they may check them through, but the only way to know is at check-in at the day of the flight. My question is: will 2h be enough to pick up bags, check them and still make my flight? If it's relevant, we will be flying business. |

If they don’t, it will be tight but doable if your inbound flight is on time. |

Hi, On one ticket, JAL will tag the bags through to ANA international flight automatically so I would not worry Depending on the domestic departure airport there may be a separate check in for pax with international connections Regards TBS |

There is as mentioned above, in moat airports counters for international connections. Just ask and they will either guide you there, or tell you there is no such thing. |
