Hello, flying with overnight connecting flight FUK-HND-ORD. In Fukuoka, do we have an option to decide if we want check-in our luggage till ORD or pick it up in HND and then check luggage in for ORD flight the next morning in HND?
Also, if we check our luggage in till ORD, do we still need to go to check-in counters at HND or we can go straight to the security? Thanks! You don't mention the exact airline(s) and number of tickets, but generally, you should get your boarding passes in Fukuoka if you check through, and you can go straight to security the next morning. |
Thank you!

Departing NRT T1 early evening. Will arrive the night before. Hilton (Gold) or Crowne Plaza (Platinum)? Price for the base room is about the same, including breakfast. Any recommendations? TIA!

If arriving the night before and leaving in the early evening , why not stay in tokyo itself and get an afternoon bus/narita express train to the airport? ( unless arriving too late for transport) That said, looks like the crown plaza is a little closer ( few minutes difference) to Narita I think the Hilton Narita gets reasonable reviews ( and a a HH gold you would get a free breakfast buffet if booking directly with Hilton so no need to pay extra for breakfast)) No personal experience with the hotels yet ( possibly spending 3 nights at the Hilton Narita in May) Regards TBS |

At the Hilton and Crown you are isolated in a castle on the highways around the airport. AFAICT there isn't much to choose between them. With the best part of a day to kill, I'd prefer to be in Tokyo or Narita City, where I can wander around and visit a temple or a shopping street. YMMV |
The Hilton tends to be very inexpensive compared to other chain properties around Tokyo, and the rooms are quite nice. If you have status and qualify for free breakfast, I’d say it’s a solid choice especially if you are arriving late in the evening. There is not much to do on site or nearby, so you would probably want to check out and take the hotel shuttle into downtown Narita after breakfast, wander around and have lunch, then go from there directly to the airport by train.

Hi,
why not stay in tokyo itself TBS I'll be doing exactly what you suggest when I return to NRT mid-February prior to my NRT SPN GUM ROR MNL run! In any case, based on the other comments, Hilton it is! |
Unless we're able to change our tickets between now and June for a later next day connection, it looks like this will be our first overnight at NRT with an a morning departure the next day. After 20+ years, we've never stayed in Narita. Given the 9AM departure the next morning and the desire to be in the JAL Sakura Lounge for breakfast before departure, we will likely choose a nearby hotel with a shuttle bus, but we want to be able to find a good place for dinner, specifically sushi the evening after arrival.
Do the western airport hotels offer a shuttle to the train, or do we need to take the shuttle to the hotel, check-in, then take it back to the airport to get the JR train over to Narita city? I don't think we want to spend the time and money to take the train all the way into Tokyo for dinner, so ideally there is a location of Sushi No Midori in or near Narita accessible from the JR train, or something similar - and very local, not a restaurant that caters to tourists. |

https://www.hiltonnarita.jp/pdf/acce...irport_tmp.pdf As for Sushi restaurants that don't cater to tourists... I wasn't sure what that might mean until I saw this photo from Sushi Yamato. Don't think I've seen that in Japan before: https://tblg.k-img.com/restaurant/im...23/2223395.jpg Highest rated on Tabelog, with 3.45 stars is Narita Edokko Sushi on Omotesando - about five minutes walk from JR Narita station. Tatsu Sushi in the terminal gets almost the same rating. I recently ate at the T3 branch .... It was OK. I forgot to ask if they got their tuna from Tokyo or from the Choshi fish market, on the coast to the east of Narita. FWIW, the highest rated restaurant on Tabelog is an Unagi place - Surugaya https://www.surugaya-unagi.net/ |

I took JAL 9 a.m. departure from NRT before. I had the same thought about grabbing breakfast at the Sakura Lounge before the flight. JAL check-in counter at NRT Terminal 2 does not open till 7 a.m. and I was not the only person with the thought of grabbing breakfast at the Sakura Lounge. The Sakura Lounge that early in the morning was a lot busier than I thought. I did not feel as I had to rush through check-in and the Sakura Lounge, but I remember it was a lot less leisure pace than I thought trying to grab breakfast at the Sakura Lounge before the flight. This was back when NRT had two Sakura Lounge location, one at the Main Building of Terminal 2 and the Satellite Building of Terminal 2.
I am really hoping JAL will release more award space to AS on either a later-in-the-day Narita or Haneda flight to TPE, I am not a fan of these early morning flights from anywhere. |
Hi. If I bought tickets with the connection in HND (FUK-HND-US), and layover is almost 24 hours.
Is there an option to pick-up our checked luggage in Haneda and then check it back in to US flight the next day? |

Yes, just go to the regular domestic counter rather than the counter for international connections, and if they ask just tell them that you would like to reclaim luggage in Tokyo rather than check through.

Thank you! And in Haneda on the next day there is a regular check-in process (I don't believe there is bag drop-off)?
