My flight will be arriving at NRT T1 at 7:40 pm. I have a domestic flight to catch from hnd the next morning at 9.

I have a booking at the oriental express Kamata.

Hello from IB282 NRT-MAD where we are turning around and heading back to NRT due to a fuel pump issue.

I assume this is not a quick fix, and probably need to overnight.

I assume IB uses JL for handling?

Typically what hotel would JL (for IB) put us in? I'm in J and OWS.

Thank you and glad to be back in Japan after just 30min!

Landing soon...how does immigration work? Would we be let back in airside and allowed back into the JL/CX lounge?

Edit: back in the air! NRT mechanics FTW

I wouldn't sweat it. You're likely to make it through immigration in plenty of time.
The train that CPH-Flyer pointed to is a good option since it should take you to Keikyu Kamata station, which is near your hotel. However, if you miss it, you could take the last Keisei Skyliner train from NRT T1 at 11pm. With that you can change at Nippori to the JR Keihin Tohoku line and ride JR to Kamata. The JR station is a bit of a hike so take a cab for the last mile.

In the unlikely event that you miss the 11 PM Skyliner, take the bus at 11:30PM to Tokyo Station and find a hotel in central Tokyo - If you stay near Hamamatsucho station, you can take the monorail to Haneda the following morning. Journey time is 25-30 mins..

Thanks! Can I buy the tickets with card or cash only? I have IC cards but I need to reload them first.

Basically cash or IC cards. But if you are an iPhone user you can get a suica linked to your phone and a credit card (for Japanese accounts also for android, not sure if Android supports international phones as well)

I guess I need to run to an Aeon ATM to get some $ before heading to the train.

I have a pixel 8 but I can't get the app.

There is a 7-11 ATM at the arrival level of T1 once you exit in the section between the north and south wing, closer to south. I have always felt the 7-11 ATM were the easiest to deal with for foreign cards.

I have 6000yen cash so in the worst case I can run straight to the train and buy tickets 😁.

Just booked an upcoming flight for my mom (J flight using AS miles on JAL metal) that has an overnight layover at NRT (SFO -> NRT, then NRT -> TPE). 2 questions:
1. Does JAL provide any sort of transit hotel? I'm guessing no, but never hurts to ask (since she is flying in business)
2. Will her checked bags be tagged through to the final destination? I've read things about people needing to pick up their checked luggage for overnight layovers at NRT, but I'm unsure if that's actually a thing...

JAL does provide stopover hotels under certain conditions, but as it is possible to book SFO NRT TPE on a same day connection on JAL, it is not applicable here.

Her baggage will be checked through to her final destination.

I am flying LAX-KIX on JL and considering a couple options for booking a separate ticket for KIX-TPE. One is a 90-minute layover and the other is a 4.5-hour layover. The latter is far safer, but I won't have any checked luggage, all the flights involved arrive / depart from terminal 1, there's not much to do on a multi-hour layover in KIX, and the timing for the earlier flight works out a little more conveniently for me. Aside from the risk of the LAX-KIX inbound flight being delayed (or schedule changes), are there any other potential issues with a 90-minute layover?

You'll need to pass transit security, but I have not seen KIX as big international connection point, so it should not be too busy. As long as the second airline issues online boarding passes, mainly meaning not an LCC, 90 minutes is perfectly doable. As long as you are prepared to pay the walk up fare for the later one of needed.

Hello, flying with overnight connecting flight FUK-HND-ORD. In Fukuoka, do we have an option to decide if we want check-in our luggage till ORD or pick it up in HND and then check luggage in for ORD flight the next morning in HND?
Also, if we check our luggage in till ORD, do we still need to go to check-in counters at HND or we can go straight to the security? Thanks!
