Best to find a hotel around NRT or HND for the night? Thinking HND so the transportation is behind me.

Thks.

Maybe around Shinagawa for some more interesting options to hang out. Otherwise Haneda, the restaurants in Edokoji is fully running again, and the Haneda Airport Garden should have some good options for dinner.

NRT-HND 4 Hour Connection on a Weekday Morning

I am considering some itineraries which involve KUL-NRT/HND-JFK, on JL. The reason is that compared to ex-SIN, ex-KUL is usually significantly cheaper for my dates (and SIN-KUL is a quick and tiny flight). Also, it gives me the opportunities to try the new JL A350-1000 seats! ;)

The flights I am considering are JL 724 (KUL-NRT; 07:00 arrival) and self-transfer to JL 6 (HND-JFK; 11:05 departure).

Historically, I have seen JL 724 arrive early (gate arrival by 06:40) and I will sit at the front of the plane. Assuming I speed walk and can bypass some people heading to the immigration queue, is there a reasonable possibility that I would make this connection?

I see the Keisei Access Express train directly from NRT to HND times at 07:47 departure to 09:33 arrival. Then, there is limousine bus scheduled from 07:34 departure to 09:31 departure. Knowing this will take place on a weekday morning, is the direct train the best option? I would not want to risk the bus stuck in traffic, although it would be the most
comfortable option.

I am also hoping that immigration/customs at NRT should not be too busy at 7 AM, if there is any recent experience about the situation there? Thank you in advance!

Depends how many bags you have (and how many people together). That keisei access express is still a commuter train that has multiple stops, and can get very crowded in morning commute especially when heading into the city.

see 4:22 onwards for the bench seating, no real dedicated space for luggage (I think those foldable luggage spaces is disabled for morning commute?

22 hour layover and airport change in Tokyo

I have 22 hour layover and airport change in Tokyo. I am flying into Narita and next day flying out from Haneda. Single ticket issued by JAL (Japan Airlines) as both legs of journey are on JAL.
Will my bags be checked through final destination? or do I have collect at Narita and re-check in at Haneda?

jib71 Feb 26, 2024 12:32 am

For a connection from NRT to HND, you will need to pick up your bags at NRT take them through customs, and transport them yourself to HND. You will re-check them at HND.

The airline will not transport the bags between the airports.

Anyone have any experience with connecting from ANA to Thai? Im considering doing 2 separate tickets right now im booked on NH11 (ORD-NRT) and last flight to BKK is TG611(NRT-BKK) but is 1hr enough? Ill be in business on both so ill be one of the first folks off the ANA flight but unsure if I need to do a physical ticket counter check in or if Thai would let me do a mobile boarding pass (never flown them).

Any help would be appreciated as my alternative is to enter Japan and spend the night and take the first flight out as its the same price but trying to maximize my time

From a time perspective, it is fine arrivals from the US does not need to go through transit security so a few minutes after stepping of the plane you can be at the gate or transfer counter for the next flight. Barring any delays, as a missed connection would be a lost connection and your own headache.

ANA will almost certainly check luggage through for you, if that is necessary. They will likely not be able to issue boarding passes. They could, as I have had Thai do it for ANA, but that was at the first class counter in Bangkok, not an outstation.
I don't know how Thai works for mobile or home print boarding passes, I basically never check in online. But the Thai forum is reasonably active and quite helpful, so try asking there

Does anyone know if Thai has an airside counter for transits in NRT? If so, where are their desks located? I know T1 South has at least 3 counters the 30s (UA), the 40s (AC), and the 50s (NH).

They used to have in the 40s where AC also does. But it has been a while since I have been that way around.

Need sanity check on my upcoming plan trip,

1st flight JX800
2nd flight JL439

Yes I am aware that I need to collect luggage, clear immigration, and transfer with bus from NRT to HND.

Wonder if between those time, is it do-able? For your info this also my solo trip, so I'm ready to rush and run in order to catch the next flight.
'Thank you

4h 10m should be a decent length connection. No time to dawdle, but also no reason to run.

Any delays, and no delay protection, can of course mean the need to buy a new JAL ticket, or have a full flex. About 30 minutes or more delay, and you are at serious risk of missing the connection. Cut off will be passing security 20 minutes before departure in Haneda

Hi,

As long as you could get your Singapore airlines boarding pass by checking in online then theoretically it should be possible.
However, if you miss the SQ flight , JL/SQ would have no responsibility to rebook you and you could be looking at a new ticket.
I personally would not be comfortable with a 2 hour connection to a long haul destination on separate tickets although trasnsferring between airports is not great ( I have not done this between HND/NRT)
How long would your connection be if you picked a HND flight?
Regards
