There are. I cannot name names off the top of my head, but I recall seeing them. You may need to go to the hotel's website to find such deals.

I've been looking and haven't found any yet. At least it's encouraging to know they exist. I've stayed at a few of the nearby hotels, but only ever overnight.

This is a list by Jalan of hotels on their system in the Haneda area that have day rates.

Are there any hotels near HND that allow day stays (6am to 4pm)?

I'm pretty sure the Villa Fontaine has these rates. When I checked in a few days ago they asked if I had an overnight reservation or day use.

Flying SHA-HND on China Eastern and then HND-MSP on Delta on the same day but on separate tickets. Will China Eastern allow me to check the bags through? If not is there any way to avoid clearing immigration? Thanks!

I don't know about the principles of China Eastern. But if they don't check through across separate tickets, there is no alternative to clearing immigration.

Hi all,

I’ll be taking SFO-NRT on JAL J in a couple of months, which is scheduled to arrive at 16:45. I’m looking for good options to get to CTS on a separate itinerary. There is a GK NRT-CTS departing at 18:05 (last flight out from NRT). Would JAL check my bags through to CTS, and what’s the process like (bags, customs, security) for transferring? I read that transfers with arrival from US don’t have to go through security again at NRT, but not sure if this only if the second flight is also intl. Or maybe I should stay the night in Tokyo and fly out the next day (worried about having to transport luggage, though)? Thanks!

Just as an update, China Eastern did allow me to check the bags through to MSP after giving them the DL ticket number.

Would be grateful for your guidance:

I'm arriving on JAL from SFO at NRT Terminal 2 landing at16:45.
My elderly aunt is arriving on Air Canada from YYZ at NRT (Terminal 1?) landing at 16:50.

Hoping to catch a flight (booked separately) on JAL from NRT (Terminal 2?) to ITM departing at 18:20.

Is this doable? Is it easy to navigate? Could I book an escort for my elderly aunt to help her navigate the airport easier? Any tips and instructions would be much appreciated.

Once at ITM, we will catch a taxi to Kyoto - our final destination.
(Another alternative would be to book a Jetstar flight to KIX at 19:45 departing from Terminal 3.)

Would also appreciate a recommendation on a car service to pre-order upon arrival in Japan to whisk us to our Kyoto hotel.

Thanks!

1h 30m from your aunt landing in T1 to catch a JAL flight from T2 would be a highly ambitious target. Almost impossible. By your landing time, there is only the longer runtime via T3 bus left. So you are close to 20 minutes for the terminal bus. Of course you could take a taxi or a train.

You can request wheelchair service, which of course would be applicable for all stations on the trip. It can get her through to arrivals quicker, but not be much help with the transfer to T2. I am not sure it would be able to speed up things enough to make the connection.

I have a following question.

My citizenship is Indian. Currently living in USA. Planning to apply Japan eVisa and Srilanka Transit Visa. If I have both approved visa will there be any problems while trying the following itinerary during my vacation to India

Hyderbad - Colombo - Tokyo Narita with 8hrs layover on Srilanka Airlines(Not sure if I can do this route) booked as an award ticket via AA
Tokyo Narita - Boston - SEA award ticket from Alaskan airlines operated by Japan Airlines (As long as my US visa is valid) I know i don't have any issues/problems for this leg.

The reason for the doubt is people residing in India are not eligible for eVisa, so I'm not sure if Srilankan Airlines counter in Hyderbad might know how to validate single entry eVisa which I obtained from USA

It might help you to print a copy of the MOFA site which states that eligibility for eVisa is extended to "all foreign nationals/people residing in the following countries / region, except those who are exempt from short-term visa" (followed by a list which includes USA) :
https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/...isaonline.html

I don't think many people on the Japan forum can speak to the competence of Sri Lankan Airlines Hyderbad check-in agents. You might be able to get some helpful advice in another forum from people who regularly fly with Sri Lankan Airlines or people who regularly fly out of Hyderbad.

Generally, transit in Japan on separate tickets is not an issue. You can stay airside and not need a visa. Just make sure you don't need to reclaim luggage between airlines.

Missed explaining clearly. My intention is to stay for 5 days in Japan hence seperate tickets

I think that the flight to ITM is extremely risky. The Jetstar flight to KIX might be the better option, though even that will require effort and good luck with the various procedures. There is a limousine bus from KIX to Kyoto station. From there you could catch a taxi to your hotel.

If going to Kyoto, I'd say that taking the Shinkansen from Tokyo or Shinagawa is generally preferable to flying into Osaka, and gives you much more flexibility if there is a delay or change of plans since there is a train literally every few minutes. Keep in mind that you can ship large luggage from the airport to your hotel in Kyoto for like $20-25 a piece, so you don't necessarily need to carry it onto the train.
