Priority Priv Advice

Folks,

I am currently planning my honeymoon in 2013 and I have pencilled in stays at CP Coogee Beach, HI Darling Harbour, IC Sydney, HI Cairns, CP Auckland, HI Sydney Airport and IC Tahiti. I will be looking to book 19 nights in total at PC hotels.

I have been onto the PP website and it looks as if it might be worth joining for the '2 for 1' certificates which I would most likely use at IC Sydney.

On the site it refers to 'transferable' and 'non-transferable'. What does it mean by this?

Also, I would appreciate any other advice on joining this scheme.

Thanks all.

The PP scheme would most likely be quite beneficial in your circumstances due to the discounts on the hotel rooms and food at the hotels. The difference between the transferable and non-transferable vouchers is that you can give the transferable vouchers to someone else to use, whereas you have to use the non-transferable ones.

The monthly promotions can also be good as they often include 2 for 1 without a certificate, however it would mean leaving booking till the last minute. One thing I have done in the past is book refundable rates and for any of the hotels which have good monthly promotions have just cancelled the original booking and rebooked using the promotion.

Thanks. I am travelling Oct-Dec 2013. I assume the certificates have expiry dates and limited time periods?
If this is the case then perhaps I should wait until closer to me trip.

Please advise. Thanks.

You should wait, certs have a year to expiry.

Now if someone would remind them to load the rates into the booking engine- can't find any dates that work for Sydney in March

I joined up after getting the hardsell phone call to join up. I thought the 2 for 1 cts would be good for our upcoming stay at the Crowne Plaza Queenstown and that would pay for the membership immediately. However once I recieved the voucher pack and rang to make the booking I was told no 2 for 1 rooms available on the Saturday of our stay:td: I am hoping we can still make this up with other savings but it will take a bit of planning.

I got the March newsletter and there is a special on the CP Queenstown, and I got a rate of $164 for lakeview, balcony. On wotif this room is going for $279 so I guess not too bad even though we didn't use the 2 for 1 voucher. We will also use the dining discount when there.

BTW I have had some value in the dining discount as we have an Interconti in Wellington and we've dined there twice and had their crayfish dish, which has now unfortunately been removed from the menu.:(

Good rates for worldwide IHG via PP?

Just wondering if anyone knows if you can access better hotel rates outside of Australasia when you are PP member? We are planning a trip to the States this year.

No. Priority Privilege rates only apply to the Asia Pacific region.

The sales reps clearly don't look at your country of origin. I was called at 3am last night after I submitted a query to them.

Without actually pulling the trigger it appeared I could book the IC Rialto in Melbourne for selected dates. Though there were certainly some dates where the response was "There are no rooms available for your requested travel criteria. Please consider modifying your preferences or requested reservation dates".

(If you need me to check a particular property for you just holler back ...)

Thanks - what date can you get availability for the IC Melbourne?
Every city, every hotel, all dates return for me - No rooms exactly matching your preferences were found. The following room types are available followed by other rates but not PP Newsletter rates

9th to 14th, and 19th to 31st. Essentially everything except Thu 15th through Sun 18th; i.e. the dates surrounding the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix.

And, randomly, I can also see 19th, 22nd and 28th at IC Sydney.
