CP LAX Airport

CP LAX Airport

What is your Priority Club status?

Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

It was ok

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked 1 night on 25K points standard room, upgraded to Club floor King with Lounge access

How are the rooms?

Really good sized and no noise that I could notice at all even though lots had complained about noise and they did provide ear plugs in the room. Decor is a bit tired but the room was decently clean.

How is the exec. lounge?

Tiny, a bit sad to be called a 'lounge'. The host is a really friendly guy though. Had drinks in the evening and breakfast the next day, the spread isn't great but still beats your typical United Club by a mile and a half.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Quick shuttle, big room, elites treated well, friendly people

Bad: needs a full scale reno, I feel like I time-traveled to the late 90's

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Decent value on points, would not have paid the $240 USD per night asking rate unless they tore down the whole thing and did a full rebuild. Would return on points if I needed to overnight at LAX again.

Well, I am afraid that 25,000 points for a night at CP feels good the 90s indeed

Intercontinental Paris Le Grand

What is your Priority Club status?

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes!

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Classic King room using 2 free night credit card awards plus one night on points, three separate reservations for consecutive nights.

Pre-upgraded a few days prior to Twin Beds Opera View Deluxe
Further upgraded at check-in to a larger Opera View Deluxe King
(this was about a 3+ category upgrade)

How are the rooms?
Our room was fantastic with four small balconies with stunning view of the opera house

How is the exec. lounge?
NA

What was good and what was bad?
Friendly helpful service. Historic, regal decor in large room, large bathroom with soaking tub and walk in shower, private toilet. Nice welcome amenities (cookies, fruit, candy and water).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Excellent use of our free credit card night certificates and points.

Would you return?

Holiday Inn Naples (Italy)

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate, and received a king bed suite on high floor

How are the rooms?
Around 45sqm
Recently partially renovated. Still a bit dated design
Living room with table, sofa, closet. Flat screen television set with mostly national television channels.
Bedroom with comfortable bed, closet.
Small separate room with sink.
Bathroom with bathtub. Lux/Dove soap/shampoo dispenser, in addition to Holiday Inn shampoo/bath gel.
View over the financial district and a desolated area at the end of this district.
Fast wifi
Very quiet
Kettle with tea/coffee set

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
- Very friendly staff
- Location is very convenient as an airport hotel (less than 10 minutes drive from airport)
- Free shuttle with fixed timetables from/to airport and city centre
- Quite good breakfast (good selection of local pastries, regional ham and cheeses, fruits, etc.)
- A very nice fruit basket with pastries and bottles of water were delivered into the room

Bad:
- The Financial district is a safe but gloomy place (the underground road to the hotel is even more terrible, and a good introduction to Naples worst face)
- The closest metro station (Circumvesuviana) is very close to the hotel. But this line has no direct link with city centre. Garibaldi Central Railway Station is further but much better to reach city centre.

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, as an airport hotel.

Forget the clichés: people in Naples can be just great if you smile and try to speak Italian.
The MADRE museum is a superb property with excellent contemporary art collections and pleasant café.
Where else can you have a delicious pizza for less than EUR 5? Try genuine pizzeria Scunizzo, Corso Novara (10 minutes walk from hotel), with authentic atmosphere.

What is your Priority Club status?
Spire RA

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
King Leisure, upgraded to King Tower Suite

How are the rooms?
The whole hotel is rather dated, but the room was large and comfortable. Separate lounge with sofa and armchairs, minibar etc. Large bathroom with good strong shower. Firm bed but due to room shape, not much space on one side of bed.

How is the exec. lounge?
NA

What was good and what was bad?
For an airport hotel, this is perfectly OK. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
I think so, a lot cheaper than the Airport Novotel next to the terminal but fine for one night.

Would you return?
Yes

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, even if there is room for improvement

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate, and was upgrade to King Deluxe Room

How are the rooms?
Around 30sqm

Very cool design: it is a great news that IHG had (finally) invest in designers to develop the boutique brand
Bedroom with desk, flat screen television
Wood floor.
Coffee machine (Nespresso would be better rather than - not exactly - great Keurig machine).
Comfortable bed.
iPhone dock
usb plug socket

Bathroom with rainforest shower head/hand shower.
No bathrobe/slippers.
C.O. Bigelow apothecary products

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Very cool design
- Very cool location (in one of the most trendy/creative district of the city)
- Nice terrace and outdoor pool
Bad:
- Service is pretty poor and inconsistent :
° young unexperienced rather than well trained staff (staff at check-in did not take time to ask how many nights I stayed which lead to housekeeping knocking loadly at the door at 12.30PM despite the do not disturb sign on the door : not so cool when having a jet lag nap; staff to activate the key who did not have a single smile/eye contact; check out staff who did not ask anything about the stay)
° housekeeping has forgotten the large shower towels the first day and shampoo/showergel the second day
- first room given was very poorly soundproofed (you could basically hear everything from the terrace of the restaurant)
- there is no real breakfast offer (just a basic grab and go offer)

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Location and design are great.
But design does not make all.

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked deluxe room, got family room.

How are the rooms?
Around 35 qm
Newly refurbished
Two comfortable single beds
Big, onsen-style bathroom
Large "living room" space with two couches that can be converted to beds

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good:

- Excellent, friendly and competent front desk staff
- We were allowed to check-in two hours before the check-in time. This is a first for me in Japan ^^
- Deluxe rooms come with one hour free flow drinks (beer, wine, soft-drinks) in the restaurant. Great deal. Although it would be nicer, if it could be used in the bar.
- Good service at the restaurant
- Fantastic location right in Susukino, lots of restaurants and bars in this area
- Airport Bus is just a 3 minutes walk, so is the metro station

Bad:
- Nothing

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, any time.
Way better hotel than the ANA Hotel which we stayed at last time.
