Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a King Grand Deluxe and was upgraded to a very large two room/two bath suite.

How are the rooms?
Very good, though would be considered "dated" by some, classic period (mid-90s) by others, but well maintained

How is the exec. lounge?
Did not receive Club access, though could pay 150 MRY for access but declined.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Just about everything from upgrade to location (was the original Hilton in what used to be a prime district. Monorail at the foot of the driveway (though its a steep walk up the hill to the foyer); can walk to the twin towers just past the new convention centre at the back of the hotel; well stocked breakfast buffet (various sections serving Malay, Japanese, Chinese and European/American items) which I think was included in my room (nobody asked for my room number or left a bill to pay). Free drink coupon also for the bars, but I was jet-lagged and didn't venture down to the cigar lounge bar.

Bad: Nothing that I can recall from this stay.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value considering the upgrade and I'd likely return and just spend the day poolside! Took a pre-paid red/budget cab from KL Sentral/Airport Express that cost 11 MRY (about U$3), monorail back -- but be warned there is a long walk from the station to KL Sentral -- for about 2.80 MRY.

No

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked an Oceanview Superior and received an Oceanview Superior. I was told that no upgrades were available for status, only for purchase. I did get Priority Club involved and they kicked in $75 of the daily $200 upgrade charge.

How are the rooms?
Awful, about on par with a Red Roof Inn. While I realize that it is a 3 star Holiday Inn, this was really run down.

How is the exec. lounge?
None available

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Location, Bellmen
Bad: Rooms, Front Desk Staff, Concierge

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
No

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a Standard Single, received an upgrade to a standard Twin. Asked for a King or Double but was told that only a smoking King was available, which I declined. Checking the ICH website later I could confirm that this was true.

How are the rooms?
Very nice, but rather small, especially with two beds crammed into it. Spacious bath, large flat panel TV. Comfortable bed and a selection of additional pillows to choose from.

How is the exec. lounge?
Did not get access.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Service-wise this hotel is at or above IC level. I was greeted in the lobby, escorted to the check-in counter, and from there into the room, where my jacket was hung into the clauset for me. The upgrade was probably arranged the night before (couldn't access my reservation any more).

Bad: The twin room was extremely crammed -- a single bed instead of the two would made a difference. From the floorplan I could assess that the single I had originally booked is much smaller still. I would be very hesitant to pay this amount of money for such a small room. Location arguably depends on where you want to go. It's quite a hike to Osaka/Umeda station, and the area around the hotel is a bit "special".

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value considering the service level and comfort of the bed. Bad value considering the size of the room.

I'll probably return if there's another big points promotion or I spend a night with my SO, but if I only need a place to spend a night in Osaka by myself, I'll choose a more convenient location at half the price.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked KING BED CROWNE PLAZA CLUB, received an upgrade to a large corner suite consisting of two separate rooms, which was not located on the Club Floor, but as far as I could tell the toiletries were the same everywhere anyway.

How are the rooms?
Lots of space, walk-in shower, separate sleeping and living room. The design may have been a bit outdated, but very well maintained.

How is the exec. lounge?
Sufficiently large with view on the Twin Towers. Serves full breakfast in the morning. There are three computers with internet access. Printing is charged from the first page, however.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Great upgrade, great room, nice lounge. We arrived at 7 am and were offered breakfast in the lounge while waiting for a room to become available (about an hour later). This alone made the investment into a Club Room worth while (and this is what I was speculating on when choosing Club access over a standard room with breakfast). Location is OK -- easy access to the main station (monorail, but escalators and elevators are rare...), close to the twin towers (you can walk straight through the nearby convention center which features a local food court), but not so convenient to get anywhere else except by taxi (the hotel only has "Premium Taxis" on wait which charge twice the amount normal taxis would charge).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value, and I would return. If you are on a budget, you can find much lower priced alternatives.

Hmmm.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard double room, got standard twin room. However I was not the first to check in since I arrived very very late off a flight. My partner checked in early evening but didn't have the platinum card or ask for an upgrade. By the time I arrived there was little point in changing rooms and I can manage a standard room for the five hours I was actually in it! However it does show that upgrades do not appear to be automatic here.

How are the rooms?
Okay

How is the exec. lounge?

What was good and what was bad?
Good - everything was okay, £10 Parking fee was waived for platinum members.
Bad - Upgrade.

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Royal Ambassador.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Not really.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard double room on Pointbreaks, and that's what I got. No Plat recognition. No upgrade (I don't think they have any superior rooms).

How are the rooms?
Tiny. Not even enough space to open the suitcases. Refurbished fairly recently, and actually in pretty good shape.

How is the exec. lounge?
I don't think there is one.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: It was okay for a quick nap after 15hrs of driving on snowy roads. The rooms are tiny, but refurbished and entirely acceptable.

Bad: - Location -- it's in the middle of nowhere; do not stay here if you actually want to visit Bologna. It's also pretty hard to find (but maybe the weather contributed to that).
- The restaurant -- worst food of the entire year! I had no idea that it's possible to screw up Pizza. It was absolutely vile, and our complaints were ignored. Don't eat here (we wouldn't have, but there aren't any alternatives nearby), and don't stay here unless you have already eaten, or brought sandwiches!

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Can't complain for 5k points. Just avoid the restaurant.

Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard double room, and that's what I got. No Plat recognition, and no upgrade (checked in at 1am, so partially my fault).

How are the rooms?
Brand new, nicely furnished, great for a HIX.

How is the exec. lounge?
I don't think there is one.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: - Free buffet breakfast (nothing fancy, but much better than US HIX)
- Very reasonable parking rates if you spend a night and leave your car while on vacation. For one night, avoid the 7EUR charge, and park on the street.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Weekend rate of 59EUR -- very good deal. Will return.

Platinum Royal Ambassador.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Not really.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard double room with Sofabed, and that's what I got. No Plat recognition, and no upgrade.

How are the rooms?
Somewhat tired. Flat screen TV, but some of the furniture looks worn. The bathroom is tiny and needs some more lighting.

How is the exec. lounge?
Wasn't upgraded, so I don't know if there is one. Didn't ask.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: - It's a very unimpressive and tired CP. Don't know why it's not flagged a HI.

Bad: - This place is NOT in Downtown Portland. It's across the river from downtown, and although it's close to Lloyd Center and 5 minutes from MAX lightrail, it doesn't feel very urban -- surrounded by empty car dealership lots and I-5.
- $10 parking charge. Again, this hotel is not located downtown, and it's ridiculous that they charge for parking. Not easy to avoid this charge, because even though the streets in this non-downtown are devoid of cars, there are 5-hr meters.
- Elevators were out of order, long waits ensued. According to aircrew whom I talked to in the lobby (they stay here on a regular basis), the problems with the elevator are common.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Entertainment card rate of $68 on weekends -- earning 15-20k points with the current promos. Of course we will "return."

JPDX How much upgrades did you get in these three trips !!!!

:D sorry....this is very sad, but we can't do anything in order to give more value to Plat.....

Just one thing: in Bologna there was another Holiday Inn Bologna City, but it is disappeared from ICHG website....(it is now Una Hotel Bologna Fiera). Here,as Plat, I got every time a very large and nice Executive room with lounge area and free juices, water and chocolate... Best hotels are changing brand :td:

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a King Pillow Top Bed and was upgraded to the same room but on the Executive Level with lounge access.

How are the rooms?
Good for an airport hotel, though would considered it a bit "dated", but well maintained.

How is the exec. lounge?
Standard executive lounge with an nice breakfast in the morning (which I used) and some snacks in the evening (I arrived late so haven't seen them in person).

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
  • Free upgrade to exec. level and lounge.
  • Nice big rooms
  • Just a stone throw from the airport, but still quite
  • free shuttle to the airport

Bad: Nothing that I can recall from this stay.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value with the upgrade for the $136 I paid and I will probably return.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes. I have stayed there several times over the last 6 months.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard room (2 queen beds) and was upgraded to a room with aking bed and slippers/bathrobe. The last time, I asked whether an upgrade to an executive room would be possible and got it.

How are the rooms?
OK, but not really enticing. None of the rooms have a window which opens to the exterior (fresh air). 50% of the room have a window to the internal patio where is also the restaurant. All rooms are reached via an aisle where all windows go to (sorry for the bad description). None of the windows can be opened, only the door. All rooms have the same size - executive rooms are not larger.

How is the exec. lounge?
Did not see one.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
  • Occasional upgrade to an executive room.
  • Very nice breakfast buffet.
  • On three evenings per week, a nice dinner buffet for 29 EUR/person.

Bad: Nothing that I can recall from this stay. During one of my last stays (in January), the aircon was set to 5°C when I returned in the evening ... freezing cold room. I complained, but it occurred on two sequential evenings.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
120 EUR - 150 EUR, depending on how short notice I am able to book. Yes, I'll return as it is conveniently located to my client.[/QUOTE]

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Excellent - it is how Platinum members should be treated

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Superior. Received King Ocean View with Balcony & newly refurbished. Reception informed me there are currently only 3 refurbished rooms in the property

How are the rooms?
Excellent view over bay. Tiled entrance with cupboard on one side and refurbished bathroom on the other. Unit along one wall containing desk and mini bar. Flat screen TV on wall. Suede-effect chair and footstool & comfortable bed. Plastic chairs & table on balcony

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Good: refurbished room, excellent breakfast for AUD19.50, very helpful staff at reception, very professional approach when cyclone heading for Cairns - letters in room, notice in reception showing progress
Bad: I didn't appreciate this was an exterior corridor property, which would be fine under normal circumstances but not with a cyclone approaching

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Excellent value. Will definitely return if in the area

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes but nothing special

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard room upgraded to a King Executive without having to ask.

How are the rooms?
Small but that is quite normal for London. Adequate working area with a sofa. Room was on the 6th floor with the veiw overlooking a side road. Small and compact bath room with a combined shower and bath tub.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
• Upgraded to executive room before checking in
• Location very close to the Underground station(Gloucester Road on the Piccadilly Line) and museums
• Lively pub connected to the hotel
• Free bottle of water, can of orange juice, and chocolate bar (Kit Kat)

Bad:
• The shower was more of a drip than a shower and took a long time for warm water to come through
• Rooms were a bit noisy

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value for money as I managed to book the room for £54 including breakfast and VAT using the Leisure Rate. Only if this hotel was much cheaper than other options nearby. I much prefer the Holiday Inn Kensington (from April it will be re-branded as a Crowne Plaza) across the road.
