PC should be proud of themselves. They were able to turn this thread from a very well researched, full of good guesses, and fun to read thread into something that seems to be populated by rants, random comments, and lots of unhelpful remarks here.
All for 2000 points too.
I vote to bring this thread back on topic. Now, any new updates other than Kauai?

Where do you see the number of views on the site? I know that you are aiming for 500,000 but I can't see that anywhere.

Everybody,
There seems to be two "phases" during each of these weekly puzzles:
Phase 1: GUESSING -- FTers ponder the verbal clue, try to game the system (as when the group was thinking JAPAN because of the html coding), compare their global travel memories with the photo provided, no positive match to an exact photo of an exact place.
Phase 2: SOLVED -- An actual, identical photo is matched to the puzzle (photostock), or a landmark in the puzzle can be matched to a landmark with 100% certainty.

Thank you
I just wanted to say thank you to all that have done the hours of research, and all the others that have contributed. I know that I wouldnt have received 3,000 points over the last two weeks if it was not for all your hard work. All of your backs must be killing you from carrying all of us!!!

Thanks! I had never actually been to the main board - I found this one through a search and have stayed right here the whole time. Alas, I have not had much to add but I must say thanks to all those who have been able to search and find the photos and information. I wouldn't have any idea where to begin with that. I keep hoping that something will pop up that I could actually be of help with!

Picture
I think this week picture (without Shutterstock) was very inferior. The vegetation didn’t appear to belong with the sand, the boat was sailing on the horizon (instead of popping up in the water like on the Kenai), and those giant fiddler crabs! I imagine that the picture was reworked to make the contest more difficult – thus explaining the delayed roll-out. Hope next week’s picture returns to the earlier quality. Thanks for the good detective work everyone.

"After getting married on Oahu on Valentine's Day 2004—barefoot on the sands of Kailua Beach—we visited Kauai and traveled around the island. We came across this sand crab on one of the many beaches. It obviously did not get a good night's sleep, because it got angry and showed us some attitude after we almost walked on it."

It's about halfway down the page at http://www.hawaiimagazine.com/photo_of_the_weekJOHN & DENISE WINKLER, Seattle, Washington
However, is this the exact same image? It's too small in the puzzle for me to see any detail.

Check out the original caption that was with the crab photo in HAWAII Magazine:
