How much is flyertalk.com worth?
Any estimates? The S1 from Internet Brands for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 when they bought it from Petersen says they spent $36MM on Internet acquisitions, but that was for 19 total websites. (Source: http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/da...178793zs-1.htm
page 39 and page 60)
Given their portfolio is largely websites that don't get a lot of hits, I'm guessing FT was their biggest acquisition for that quarter, although I really don't know... does anyone else have a better sense?
Anybody have a good sense on what the site is doing in revenue? Commissions for credit card sign-ups are pretty darn high these days and all I see around my screen are credit card offers!

What is flyertalk.com revenue?
From the S1, Internet Brands paid $37MM for 19 acquisitions in the quarter ended March 31, 2007. (source http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/da...178793zs-1.htm page 39 and page 60) Given their portfolio is full of sites that don't get a lot of traction, and given that no other acquisition made the news from that quarter (Jelsoft was the following quarter), I'm guessing FT was their largest acquisition for that quarter, although that doesn't tell us a whole lot. Does anyone have a better sense?
Any estimates as to how much FT does in revenue? It is the ~1284th most hit site in the US according to alexa, which should equate to ~30MM or so monthly hits (using the logic presented here: http://netberry.co.uk/alexa-rank-explained.htm ), but that really doesn't capture the whole story because the userbase of FT I'm inclined to believe is much wealthier than the average internet user. Moreover, I see nothing but credit card ads around me and given how much the boardingarea folks seem to be making off of these things in commissions, I'm not sure how relevant existing CPC numbers are for a site like this.
Anyone else have a good sense? My off-the wall guess is FT today does $10MM-$15MM or so in revenue. Because a normal site with an average userbase with this kind of traffic should do ~$3MM or so. http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/flyertalk.com (doesn't make assumptions of way above average monetization ability)

The user base of FT USED to be much wealthier and better educated because they were mostly heavy FFers with higher paying jobs.
I believe the demographic has shifted. We're seeing new people come here who are only interested in collecting miles via credit cards and getting a free vacation.
As a result, I believe many people have simply stopped posting or moved to social media sites, private boards, and via emails with friends who were made here long ago.
As for their revenue, if it's not int eh 10-k or 10-q and listed individually, we really have no way of knowing.

Thanks for your input. I'm aware of what you're saying, but the purpose of this exercise is to use his network as a comparable for the traffic Flyertalk receives to determine how much more valuable Flyertalk traffic is relative to overall traffic on the internet.
The purpose of the OP exercise was to try to determine what he sold FT for based on Internet Brands' financials. Unfortunately due to the fact that they did many transactions in the same quarter in which they bought FT, it is not possible to determine what they paid for FT exactly.
The conclusion I would draw from the data posted at the link I submitted is that Flyertalk web traffic is quite valuable relative to that of the average website.
Milepoint today is not terribly valuable judging from the amount of traffic it gets. That said, he seems to be doing very well with boardingarea.

Since this topic is entirely speculative, and largely irrelevant to FlyerTalk's purpose, the thread has been locked. OP may wish to contact Internet Brands directly, as it would be the only reliable source of detailed financial information.
Thanks!
Thanks!
