Hello from CLT! I travel mainly for business, my company has me in Asia a few times a year and somewhere else in North America for a few days every month. I've done the road warrior thing and this isn't it, but it can feel like it sometimes when trips get stacked close together. I've been lurking here, on and off, for years but finally got around to making an account and contributing.

I'm in bed with AA now, and on track to earn EXP for the first time this year. It's been a couple of years since I've had status and I'm tired of being treated like oversized baggage. Ironically, US was always the airline I dreaded flying and now I'm in US hell at CLT, but damn if those schedules aren't convenient (assuming they can get the planes off the ground on time.)

So anyway, I'm determined to make the most of this travel and looking forward to learning a lot more here. Thanks FT!

Checking in from RDU! I've just been hired by a UK company to represent them in N.A., so lots of travel (domestic and LHR) in my future. And since it turns out all of my travel questions lead me to a FT thread, might as well jump in the deep end to learn. Cheers!

"Quartercup" is a nickname of mine since I'm on the extra-petite end of things; a blessing in economy seats, but a curse for heavy shoulder bags and mis-sized gear.

Greetings from Bordeaux, France.

A remote location according to major carriers, but hey, we've got AF, KL, BA, IB, TK and... That's all.

I'm a big fan of Asia and of anywhere I can find good mellow waves and no sharks, but with my 18-months old, I see only a few trips in the years to come. Oh, well, an error fare could cause a change of mind for a quick trip...

Pleased to be among so many travellers on this website, thrilled to learn new ways to explore the world - and to practice them later

Hi from Texas! I'm joined last night. I'm here because I'm hoping to learn how to make the most of traveling with my son. I'm excited.

Hi,

I am Utsab Bandopadhyay from India. I am a Filmmaker.

I have been traveling mostly across the Indian domestic skies as digital Imaging technician on a group ticket on Jet Airways, Air Indigo, Go Air after leaving my desk video editing job as a consultant for a fashion magazine as a 'digital video editor'. I travelled with film crew group tickets so I gathered no reward points.

I have recently acquired Star Alliance - Miles & more card from Lufthansa airlines during my first professional abroad trip for a project from BOM via MUC to DBV then DBV via ZAG to LHR with Lufthansa and partner airlines.

On return flew on BA from LHR to BOM. (One world partner)

I have acquired 500 miles for newsletter subscription and miles as per their email for flying. I have to be on 27 more flights to earn frequent miles status.

I had not received my Star Alliance miles and more card after registration so I registered on new card number and submitted my details for which they posted me a card and confirmed my miles.

I hope to enjoy the art of flying.

Incoming college student (ATL -> BOS/LEB) and long-time lurker in the churning community, I've often heard about Flyertalk, especially infamous for its dense jargon and abbreviations/acronyms.

In high school, thanks to competitions, scholarships, club fundraising, and colleges wanting to show prospective students their campuses, I've flown a lot for free. I've started to grow a taste for it, and churning and flying for free go hand in hand, so I might as well take the plunge into Flyertalk now.

Hi,

Just signed up as I'm flying out to Orlando from Gatwick at the end of September for two weeks which include a one week jaunt over to Austin for a comic-con. Not flown outside Europe before and not flown for a good 10 years so I'm both nervous and excited.

Looking to swot up on all the useful info and resources here.

Cheers!

London calling!

I'm new to this because until late last year, I did almost no flying on major airlines. Now I go about once a month to other EU countries, especially Italy, and occasionally to Russia.

I used to fly a lot on Ryanair as a student, back when it was literally pocket change cheap. Took someone for lunch in Milan once, and our two return tickets were £25 including the credit card fee.

So far I've got a few Aeroflot points, and by the end of the year I'll be close to silver on Lufthansa. Three segments short based on my current plans. Would that be worth a status run?

Also curious about the best credit cards for me as a UK resident. Amex is a pain to use here because the fees are so high many businesses won't accept it.

Greetings from Montana

Hello from Montana! Wife got a job at an airline, and it seems that I get to travel again! I have SO many questions, and being new to this, feel like an octopus thrown on a hot sidewalk! The information here is just overwhelming and I have read much, and I feel like I need to keep a window open just to google the abbreviations!

So, as this is my first post, perhaps you can tell me this, My wife has booked me travel via a ID90 website, I think thats what it is called, its for employees, and I dont now if I can earn miles if I am flying on a pass. I mean, it isnt free, is this something I just ask the gate agent to make sure and give them my rewards number? Any guidence would be great and cannot wait to share my travels with you all!
