Unlikely since the cow costers are not willing to pay for it... eg in DEL the low costers remain in the old domestic terminal.

I believe star alliance members can through check in bags even if tickets are booked on different PNRs - both TG and AI should send your bags to FRA.

They can do many things, but if they want to is a different matter.

1. Easy. Same terminal - you would probably go through immigration in Mumbai. Bags would be checked through to EWR.
2. Should be OK. Worst case AI would express you through to BOM-EWR if your chennai flight is delayed |

AI 93 is a internation/domestic hybrid, on which you will clear immigration in MAA itself and just change aircraft in BOM in the same international concourse.

Arriving 7:20pm from AUH on EY - departing 9W domestic 6am - both flights are now T2, same ticket
I am happy booking into the Niranta for the night. Would it be possible to use this hotel with checked luggage. If so, how does one do that? |
You have to collect your luggage on arrival in BOM anyway, since you go thru customs there. Instead of handing it back to 9W just after customs(on your left), just continue walking straight out the door after customs. The moment you walk out you will see a small Niranta stand with 2-3 persons and a sign with the name of the passengers with reservations. If you report to them, they will take you to the Niranta one level below. You can take your tagged luggage with you as the hotel is landside. On the way to the hotel entrance you will have to show your bags to a CISF checkpoint who will xray them and stamp the niranta hotel tags the escort has provided. You will be able to take the luggage cart all the way into the room. There you can repack (remember duty free liquids need to be checked) and later when you depart you just check the luggage with 9W on the departures level (assuming you are flying after March 15 when 9W has moved to T2).

Somehow I knew there will be stamping of tags involved :D |
Several Questions:
(please pardon me if these questions have been asked and answered recently; I have not had a chance to look at this or other threads with my questions). a) JW Marriott (where my family is staying during transit) does not give a free shuttle. Do any nearby airport hotels give a free shuttle, or not? b) My wife/mother-in-law will be arriving on AI on a domestic flight from DEL this coming Wed, twelve hours later, they will be flying on AI to LHR (and then onwards to Canada). Are different terminal buildings involved or not. c) with regards to my wife and mother-in-law - the DEL to BOM to LHR to Canada flights are on one through ticket (ie one pnr for all flights). The Air India reservation agent on the weekend said that the bags can only be checked from DEL to BOM; someone else on a different FT thread said that the bags can indeed be checked from DEL to Canada. Who is right? Can one store bags at the airport? If yes, what is the cost per bag? What are the hours that the storeage facility is open. My family arrives in BOM at about 7 pm on Wed; twelve hours later they have to depart on the international flight. d) They are flying business class. My wife is Star Alliance Gold. What time do they practically have to come and check-in (AI said that 3 hours is advised, but the check-in cut-off time is 1 hour before flight dpearture, e) any differences with exit passport control procedures at BOM compared to DEL. We have never existed India except from DEL. e) if they have time to go to a lounge (even briefly); which is the best lounge when exiting India on a international flight. They are flying business class, and my wife has Star Alliance Gold status. |
a) go to the Niranta in the terminal, no shuttle required ;)
b) no, in BOM AI domestic and Intl are in the same terminal c) AI will check luggage to the final destination No storage of bags at airport d) 80-90 min in advance is OK. 60 min is the cutoff, C counter is never full. e) no e) only two contract lounges in BOM, the operating airline will issue an invite |
Travelling with kids on Y, flying on Jet from PNQ-BOM reaching @ 6:30 PM. Next flight is UA from BOM to EWR at 11:20 PM.
1. Does Jet now fly into T2? I remember reading an email from them. 2. My itinerary is part of one E-ticket. Do I still need to collect checked-in bags in BOM and check them in at UA counter? 3. I'm guessing that I will need to do the immigration check in BOM & possibly security again. 4. I'm a Star Alliance Gold (LH Senator). Do I get lounge access for the family? Last time I traveled with family, AI only allowed one adult with 2 kids in GVK lounge. 5. If no GVK lounge access, being a VISA Signature card holder and a Priority Pass Member, I can access their lounges (Loyalty Lounge) but do they allow guests/kids with the primary card holder? If so, what are their charges? Thanks |
1. 9W started in T2 this week.
2. No. 3. yes 4. UA will issue you with lounge vouchers, so stop by the UA checkin desk to show BP, luggage tags and verify docs. Whether UA issues lounge vouchers for kids I don't know. More here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...om-mumbai.html 5. GVK sells a number of services, which include lounge products: http://pranaam.csia.in/services/services.jsp#11 Last week paid access to the CIP domestic lounge (op by Tfs) cost 1500 Rs for adults and 750 for kids. |
