Terminal 1B to Terminal 2 - 4 hours is enough?

Hi all, I have to catch Etihad flight to AUH at 9.25pm from T2 - international terminal. My preferred domestic flight arrives at T1B around 4 hours earlier (3:50hrs, to be precise).

Would this be enough to do the transit and security, checkin, immigration etc? :(

If you are arriving on Jet and have booked a through ticket, you should avail the through check-in option at your origin and collect your boarding pass for the Etihad flight there itself.

With that taken care of, all you are left is the transfer to the T2 and security / passport control, which shouldn't be a problem with 03:50 hours.

On the other hand, if those are 2 seperate tickets / PNR, it's a touch and go situation, with little room for delay on the first flight. A minimum of 3 hours is recommended for a transfer involving change of terminals at BOM.

Thanks for the info @GuyFromBOM - I am arriving on Jet, but 2 separate tickets. Will find out if through checkin can be availed, if not I'll go for the morning flight to arrive at BOM and have a much longer layover.

@pichkari
Separate PNR will also subject you to domestic allowance for your domestic flight even when you are connecting to an international flight. There is a possibility that you may get interline benefits as Etihad is part owner of 9W.

IN your shoes, I will take earlier flight without any hesitation. Nothing to do with it being India. Will do the same in US if I had to take US domestic flight connecting to Intl flight and I got myself in situation where the flights are on separate PNR. (Separate tickets should always be avoided unless you are holding good travel insurance with good missed connection benefits)

To add to desi's excellent post, there is a 24hr lounge at Terminal 1B for Premier class passengers. It is located upstairs on the mezzanine floor after passing security.

I spent a few hours there in relative comfort in the middle of the night before my 5.30am flight.

There was a large open front chiller filled with 1 ltr cartons of fruit juice, but the chiller wasn't switched on. However there was a small ice-making machine.

Also a tea/coffee machine and biscuits. Biryani was also served.

Thanks for this data point about all night lounge. Previous data point was that lounge only opens at 5 am. Any idea what was the name of this lounge.

This reiterates the point that when it comes to travel in India, it is best to get latest datapoint. Just few posts above your oliver2002 had warned that there is nothing open specifically no lounge.

Now we know that
a) Lots of shops and foot stalls are open
b) AT least one lounge is open overnight

First time layover flier, help!

Hey everyone, i would really appreciate if someone could guide me what to do to catch a flight with layover in mumbai(BOM) airport. This is my first time and I am very nervous about it. My flight details: Dhaka (DAC) to BOM by Jet Airways 9W 275, arrival in BOM on 3.10 PM, Terminal 2. Then my connecting flight from BOM to Colombo by 9W252 is on 6.15 PM from same Terminal 2. Thank you in advance!

Welcome to FT^

You don't need to worry, you will be checked thru to CMB in DAC itself and receive all boarding passes. In BOM you deplane, go thru transfer security and wait for your flight to CMB.

Inconsistent immigration processing, harassed passengers

Tale of two trips

Nov 1st week
HYD DEL RUH. Outbound immigration at HYD, international transit at DEL (AI 127/ 925)
RUH BOM HYD. Inbound immigration at HYD, international transit at BOM (AI 922/ 965)

Nov 3rd week
HYD BOM RUH. Outbound immigration at BOM. On arriving at BOM by AI 966 at 11:20, walked to AI transit counter. We were collected and escorted to international arrivals. Skipped immigration (got Boarding pass stamped as domestic arrival). Wait in queue for immigration arrival stamp check (we waved our BP). More waving at customs. Past CISF at 2 points on way to departure level. Met by AI agents who asked us to fill outbound immigration form. Immigration processing. Run to gate, the farthest, of course. At gate by 12:30 at published departure time of AI 921.

RUH BOM HYD. Inbound immigration at BOM. Similar workout as above without AI escort.

What triggered immigration processing points to change?

Since all flights noted here are international, enabling international transit at BOM/DEL is helpful

Hi guys..sorry if it's a repetitive question. Any quick responses are very much appreciated as my mom is traveling tonight.

HYD - BOM -EWR

22:00 - 11:45 , 1:30 from BOM

Is that enough time for transfer?

How is transfer handled in BOM?

It could be tight. The transfer from domestic airport to international airport roughly can take anywhere between 30-45 minutes, subject to shuttle availability and departure. But then you add the walk time, immigration, security etc.

She should contact some official as soon as she lands to make sure that she gets priority transfer.

==========================

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for not being clear.
She is travelling via AIR INDIA,

AI 51 from HYD - BOM
AI 191 from BOM - EWR

And it's through check in from HYD to EWR. I was hoping HYD flight( AI51) arrives in Internation Airport. Isn't that the case ?

Bioflyer Dec 16, 2015 10:37 pm

AI operates both domestic & INT out of T2 in BOM plus as its AI-51 so I assume she has to go through Immigration in HYD itself and her luggage would be checked in through to EWR.

She would be handed both the boarding passes - HYD to BOM/BOM to EWR and she just has to go through transfer desk at BOM and to the gate of AI191.

Sufficient time to connect too!

It would be a hassle-free travel and there would be AI staff to assist in T2 around.

May be this should help you: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/india...d-bom-ewr.html

Oh, Awesome. I really wish that is the case. Fingers crossed!
Hope Immigration is done in Hyderabad.
