For AI and 9W, is the domestic to international transfer experience in BOM now similar to DEL? Specifically, does one arrive on a domestic arrivals level and side and go through a domestic to international transfer security and immigration area to get from the domestic side to the international side and departure level?
I'm asking for my upcoming HYD-BOM-EWR trip (first leg on 9W, second leg on UA). Thanks! |
Yes, pretty similar to DEL.

1. 9W started in T2 this week.
2. No. 3. yes 4. UA will issue you with lounge vouchers, so stop by the UA checkin desk to show BP, luggage tags and verify docs. Whether UA issues lounge vouchers for kids I don't know. More here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...om-mumbai.html 5. GVK sells a number of services, which include lounge products: http://pranaam.csia.in/services/services.jsp#11 Last week paid access to the CIP domestic lounge (op by Tfs) cost 1500 Rs for adults and 750 for kids. So I'm assuming that Jet will allow me to check-in up to 23 kgs at no charge on PNQ-BOM sector since my itinerary is part of an international ticket. Otherwise their baggage weight limit is 15 kgs for domestic sectors. |

Otherwise their baggage weight limit is 15 kgs for domestic sectors. if you need further assurance, call Jet 7 times. You wlil of course get 2 or possibly three different answers. But majority (my guess is about 4 out of 7) will confirm that you wont be charged extra. However, that does not mean that guy at PNQ check-in wont try to collect that fee. Just be firm. |

Found about this hotel few posts upthread on this thread.
Reviews seems mixed on the TA Any personal experience data point from FTer? Positive: - It is extremely convenient for overnight transit or even simply to avoid dealing with ground transfer to city in the middle of the night. - Finding hotel is extremely easy (in contrast to some earlier reports) as their is a desk just as you come out of customs - Rooms and bathrooms are clean (except for things pointed out in negatives) - Hotel provides for true 24 hour stay. If you check-in at 11:30 PM, you can stay until 11:30 PM next evening. NEGATIVES: - while its is "luxurious" for a guest from Jaipur/Nagpur/Satara etc. and "Quite adequate" from someone from Europe, it is no where near expectations of US based guest. At best 2.5 or 3 star quality - in spite of vehement insustence that their property is mosquito free, two of them were discovered within seconds of entering the room (in the world of Dengue, this is BIG negative) - Room is extremely small (about foot of space on each side of queen bed) - There are obviously no windows (something to consider for those who are claustrophobic) - Breakfast is poor (except for freshly made dosa and omlet) - Air-condition was weak. In spite of running all night, temp will not go below 25 C (77 F). (Again, depending on where you are from, this could be too hot or already cold enough) (According to lady at front-desk, this is by design which is unbelievable) - BIGGEST NEGATIVE: Shower does not drain properly. An inch of water gets collected in 10 min. Not only it is gross but potential minor health risk too - They have created massive confusion by actually creating three properties under the same name. (one is for international transfer only which is on airside. main one is on landside after customs. third one, which is new, is actually outside the terminal building. Someone will accompany you but you do have to walk in open air for short distance. (mosquito exposure) Summary: Convenient transit hotel but it is more of 2.5 or 3 star category. Use DEET based bug spray before entering your room |
Recent Observations
Local friends tell me that they have stopped asking/answering about latest at BOM airport because everything keeps changing. Hence the constant stream of exactly same questions on this thread over the years.
Here are some observations based on recent visit - The decades old custom form is gone!!! You still need to fill in arrival information card which may or may not get distributed on the flight. - Out of 80+ immigration counter only 25 to 35 may be open when you arrive. Line still moves quickly and total wait time is considerablly less than what you find at JFK or LHR. - No longer a separate line for OCI/PIO. Visitors and Locals are also commingled - at least on this occassion - In GRREEN channel, they no longer xray your bags. Instead focus is now on carry-on. Guess only thing they are concerned about is Gold - Meru, Tab, etc have now counters along with usual kali-pili taxis (Meru/Tab will charge flat 100 Rs to write up a booking which you take to their cab location outside (on level below arrival) and then pay the driver based on actual distance. While some cheating is possible, GPS controlled ruting keeps it to minimum) It actually turned out to be much cheaper than the flat pricing of a/c (blue cool cab) version of kali-pili. - A/C is very weak especially in semi-secured/semi-public area. - Terrminal is new and shiny. People attitudes and System efficiencies remain same as before. On a side note, download OLA app. I used referal code G6E4TR to get first ride free. Ola cabs seems to be THE thing to use for local transport. Much better than Uber and Meru/Tab are having difficulties filling instant need orders as they lose drivers to Ola. |
apologies if this was asked and answered.
I am arriving on UA from EWR-BOM Business class. I am planning to stay @ Niranta since I have an early morning domestic flight from Terminal 1B. Is there a priority lane for arriving first/business class passengers? Will I be able to take the shuttle from T2 to T1B without exiting the terminal? (obviously I will have my baggage with me) thanks |
Usually there is a priority lane in immigration and ALWAYS in emmigration.
Immigration is very quick. So even if for some reason you do not see one, it is ok. (Better to wait in line at immigration area than wait for luuggage to arrive) Stay in Niranta includes transfer to 1B. I dont know how they handle that free transfer. Mosquitos were noticed in Niranta room last week. Carry DEET based bug wipes in carry on and DEET based bug spary in your checked luggage. Malarone is a good preventer for malaria but Dengue has no prevention or cure. If you like your A/C to be below 25C (77 F), bring this to notice of front-desk in a very assertive manner. Of all western airlines and 3 ME carriers, UA has the worst reputation in India. Being in business class is certainly a big plus. |
thanks. Presence of mosquitoes is scary. I was hoping for a short ride in the night and easy commute to domestic terminal. I will see if I can get Hyatt or Leela that is close to the International terminal.
Your advice is very much appreciated and your information about Mumbai is always right on the mark. thank you. |
Connection International domestic within T2
Hi
I am connecting from Etihad International to Jetairways Domestic in early May. Both in J. How is the connection within T2? Normal required time - I have 3 hours between flights so it should be Ok I think. They are on the same ticket but there is only one flight to Jodhpur so not ideal if I cannot make it Access lounge for the domestic sector? Thanks |
You clear immigration, pick up any luggage and clear customs. Then go up two levels to departures and hand any luggage to 9W. Lounge access is allowed if you qualify, make sure you pickup a lounge voucher from the 9W checkin desk. @:-)
|
You will get lounge access in J. Even if you don't pickup a lounge voucher at check-in, just show the agent your BP and they will write out a voucher at the lounge.
3 hours is more than sufficient to make the connection. |
Thanks. If I have time, I probably try grab a voucher - just in case. Is the domestic lounge any good? The one in 1B was terrible.
|
Its pretty nice.
|
cheers oliver2002.
