Thanks for your reply. Sorry for not being clear.
She is travelling via AIR INDIA,

AI 51 from HYD - BOM
AI 191 from BOM - EWR

And it's through check in from HYD to EWR. I was hoping HYD flight( AI51) arrives in Internation Airport. Isn't that the case ?

Good. If she is flying AI all the way, then should be good.

BA To 9W Or AI

Hi -

Hoping for sage advice here - thanks in advance.

I am arriving with my wife and child (4 y.o.) in BOM on BA (First, Gold/ OWE) at 11.15 and transferring to domestic, either 9W (slightly better time) or AI, to TRV.

Just wondering what the transfer is like and the lounge options. Apart from OWE, I have *G and AZ ST+, wife OWS/ AZ ST+, daughter OWS.

Is either 9W or AI preferable for this transfer? Will either/ both allow us to access their lounges? Does 9W grant entry reliably via the EAP programme? Is a young child admitted as a lounge guest?

All tips and insights much appreciated. ^

As you are arriving into T2 @ BOM, my suggestion would be to stick to AI, as they operate domestic flights from the same terminal. 9W will involve change of terminal from T2 to T1B. T1B has limited lounge options.

Since you are already *G member and if you are originating at LHR, I would suggest LHR-DEL + DEL-TRV (via a halt on COK), with both segments on AI.

Check the IbA Lounge Wiki for details on Lounge options.

Very helpful, GuyFromBOM - thanks.

I'll definitely fly AI if possible, to avoid the terminal change.

Only one of us is *G (for now), so will I be able to guest in both my wife and 4 y.o. daughter?

Thanks again.

Most domestic flights on AI have a dual-configuration of J & Y. J will make you eligible for Lounge access. *G status provides you +1 access as well, irrespective of class of travel.

The little one shouldn't have a problem either, but if the Lounge insists, you may be able to pay for her access.

Thanks for all that. :)

One important question: we arrive in BOM at 11.15 in T2 on BA, in F, but with checked baggage and needing to clear immigration, customs and re-check. What is the minimum connection time we could go for, either on AI or 9W domestic, on different bookings?

deepax90 Dec 29, 2015 7:22 am

I have arrival at 10:45 PM in Terminal 2 (Intl arrival) and 5:30 AM departure from T1.

What are my best options for food? T2 arrivals or T1 departures? I'd prefer Indian snacks (like pav bhaji/vada pav) and/or south Indian cuisine, if possible.

T1 will have vada pav airside, its quite decent.

2 hours would be minimum, 3 for on a safer side as you have a kid travelling with you. Add 1 hour if transferring from T2 to T1B.

It would be best to check with the airline, they have their own published MCT.

T2 has a couple of outlets, including Starbucks.. T1 maybe shut at mid-night, with only a few options at that odd hour.

T1 has enough eateries airside which are open thruout. I would not waste time at T2, get over to T1 asap.

Hi -

Please forgive my bumping my own question, but... How long would people advise between inbound international flights into T2 on other carriers and separate bookings before catching domestic flights on either AI or 9W?

I can look up the MCTs, but these are separate bookings and, in any case, the collective experience of those here is superior.

Many thanks!

Since you mentioned earlier that you are with a kid, I would suggest at least 2-3 hours if within T2 and around 4 hours if it includes a terminal change

FYI-Only AI & Vistara fly domestic from T2 rest all including 9W would incur a terminal change to T1.

oliver2002 Dec 31, 2015 7:12 am

T2 Intl - T1 domestic MCT is 3h, which is cutting it close in the peak intl rush hour (11pm-3am). If you know your way around 3h is OK.

Dakota Jan 1, 2016 4:08 pm

Thanks, oliver2002, Bioflyer, GuyFromBOM. ^

I had somehow missed GFB's reply before I bumped my Q. Sounds like 3h should do it, arriving at 11.15, rather than 23.15.
