i was wondering the exact same thing....

more importantly, i think hong kong will be next to follow flight bans from india....

at this point in time i think india needs to stop flying anywhere....the government has allowed the kumbh in haridwar, local body elections in uttar pradesh & state elections in bengal, tamil naidu, puducherry, kerela & assam....all super spreader events....people from these states will spread the virus among themselves & then to people in other cities....pretty soon these people will be flying all over the world....this is not looking good....

People in India had a super relaxed attitude when I visited in March, the situation in the Taj Bengal, malls, airports etc were cray cray. People were washing their hands in desinfectant like ganges water but wearing the mask under their nose or pulling it down to talk to others. Also the fact that many had covid with mild symptoms or heard of others who only had mild symptoms must have contributed to the relaxed attitude. I pray and hope the new Indian variant can be countered by existing vaccines, other wise we are all...

The international flight bans have started kicking in...NZ, UK, UAE, Oz, and now Canada. Matter of time I think before others also put in restrictions.

Meanwhile Puriji shows no signs of restricting domestic capacity or introducing mandatory testing for domestic flights...what gives?

Mandatory testing for domestic flights is a non-starter... it would kill the airlines.Flights to DEL & BOM would probably hobble along... but the next tier flights would be significantly affected and probably make it untenable for the airlines to fly given reducing loads.

A friends Uncle was not feeling well and saw a doctor in Asansol. The doctor told he will be fine with a few crocin and sent him home without testing. He then travelled to HYD to see a liver specialist. They did a quick test when they saw the symptoms and he tested positive. He then flew from HYD to MAA to CCU and travelled home by train. All the while he was psoitive and knew it. Didn't want to be stranded in HYD. God knows what others are doing in domestic travel, with or without symptoms.
