What you're talking about is technically very possible but less so practically.
With most of the larger US airlines (and other carriers too I'm sure) you can track your bags through their app. Including whether the bags were loaded on your flight or not etc. But they still give you the physical tags. The physical tag is important because you are not expected to have the app of every airline you travel on on your phone. I have traveled loads with DL & AA but I couldn't bother loading their apps on the phone or every other airline I fly on. Plus INT travel with no roaming type of scenarios etc. Physical tags for pax are still very welcome in my books.

Looks like international travel is going to resume starting in August. First stop USA!
Given that we’re going to start travel with flights to the Corona capital of the world... I wonder what is the point of opening the skies selectively to just USA, EU & ME. Just open it up for everyone. What good are you doing by banning flights to everywhere else?

India has been pulled up by USA, France etc. on using Vande Bharat to start "regular" business & tourism services and not just repatriation. So they're being forced to do this.

Hopefully flights will start soon.
I am sure there are thousands and thousands of people who simply want to get back to India or just leave India to wherever they have to go.

i have tons of pending travel to usa this year but i'm trying to get out of all of it....i've already recovered from covid & have antibodies against the virus but god knows how long that will last....its just safer to avoid planes & airports for the foreseeable future....

Good to hear you've recovered... but be wary... that doesn't guarantee immunity or protection against other strains of it (as nobody really knows anything about the virus really).

india has more to lose....modi, i doubt it....the blame will be pushed to state leadership....
that's my point....this is all so new that there is no guarantee how long or well the antibodies will protect me....

I doubt things will restart after July 31, but happy to be proven wrong. The reopening is extended by the DGCA every two weeks, kind like the rolling delay IC used to have every 15 minutes.
Some airlines are already flying to India under the 'bubble' arrangement, but staying under the radar without big announcements. The LH flights from DEL to FRA/MUC are going out with good loads, mostly connecting passengers to the US. All the US NRI/OCIs that got stuck in India for the lockdown want to be back in the US before DT cancels their visa

And now add SG to the list too! I don't know how they got in to fly IND-USA but they did!!! https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/bu...s-5585551.html
So if you thought flying AI & UA was bad (pre or post Covid) - I'm sure SG is going to take it to a whole new level! Thinking about SG's leg room on a 15 hour flight is giving me knee pain right now!
There's no clarity as yet on planes they are going to use for this route - and where and when they are going to get them. And really when they will actually start this route.

New international arrivals quarantine rules - do a test and don't quarantine. Have an excuse - pregnant, kids, family etc. don't need a test home quarantine for 14 days instead of institutional quarantine.
