Get one of these and you won't have any problem with the seat. @:-)

+1 ^

or purchase a premium seat aka exit seats on CO ;)

You don't seem to understand - the issue with CO is not the legroom, it is the fact that the seat is hard as a rock.

I would add 5 or 6 hours to avoid the seat, it's that bad.

Regardless, I suggest he flies LH into PHL anyway - PHL is much better suited for him to go to Dover than either EWR or JFK.

Hmm... I would take that hard seat over an extra 4-5 hours AND a dom-intl transfer at BOM.

I agree with your suggestion about LH into PHL.

The DOM-INTL transfer would be a former AI flight, so it would all take place at the intl terminal. If it involved trekking it over from the domestic terminal, I would find a connection somewhere else.

Flying PMCO planes in Y is terrible - in J on the other hand, I'd be happy to fly CO..

Well, deepakbhatia says that the DEL-BOM flight will land at T1 in BOM:

I haven't flown CO in Y longhaul... but this year, I flew UA on ULH flights (ORD-HKG,PVG and IAD-DXB). The service/food/IFE was definitely crappy (I got you get what I paid for). But the seats to me didn't seem particularly harder than other Y seats.

LH seats are worst than CO per this:

UA uses a different (much better) seat than CO. I would not hesitate to fly UA longhaul. I would strongly hesitate to fly CO.

I have flown quite a bit on both UA and CO in domestic, I have not noticed any difference.

It's well documented that CO Y seats are like asking for aches for weeks...

Make sure you are comfortable driving in the US, especially after a long flight. If not, seriously consider alternatives like having a friend give you a ride.

i havent driven a car outside india and i dont plan on doing so on this trip either..

i wouldnt mind adding 4 to 5 hours rather than a hard and unconfortable economy seat

no, it's probably right unfortunately.
Most domestic flights at that time of day are former AI flights, so they usually go into the international terminal.

However, if you have to transfer domestic terminal to international terminal, that just makes Lufthansa's case even stronger for your business...
