Has anybody tried to book this? What is price difference between the special fare and check fares? Anyway to book it online?

Thanks

Answering my own question for others help: A sample fare which costs $77 as lowest fare currently, the baggage fare costs $185. The other major pain point is that you have book this fare locally with jet office in Newark. If not there then call you local travel agent. And when you do that - the local agents do not even know these fares. The jet rep did not give the fare code for this rate.

Ok. So update on baggage allowance for domestic India flights (with the new rules)..the the majors have sunk to a new low:
1. Jet Airways/JetKonnect: 15 kg (economy) / 30 kg (business)
2. Air India: 15 kg(economy (K,Q,V,W,G,L,U,S,T,X & N) / 20kg (economy Y,B,M,H)
35 kg (business)
3. Indigo: 15 kg
4. Spicejet: 20 kg

Spicejet seems the best of the lot now.

another update:

1. Jet Airways/JetKonnect: 15 kg (economy) / 30 kg (business) (excess is now Rs 300/kg!!)
2. Air India: 15 kg(economy (K,Q,V,W,G,L,U,S,T,X & N) / 20kg (economy Y,B,M,H) . 35 kg (business) (excess is Rs 250/kg).
3. Indigo: 15 kg (excess if prepaid online:
5 kg: Rs. 750
10 kg: Rs. 1500
15 kg: Rs. 2000
30 kg: Rs. 3000)
4. Spicejet: 30 kg (excess is Rs.250/kg) (per the FAQ
Passenger travelling on SpiceJet domestic Sector and having connection on another airline to/from an international destination, Free Baggage Allowance as permitted by the International Carrier will be given maximum upto 30kgs, provided:
a. Free Baggage Allowance must be reflected on the itinerary of International Flight.
b. The above allowance would be applicable for Adult/Child bookings. Infant bookings does not qualify for the allowance.

for the non elite traveler, seems if one is taking 2 x 50lb bags (around 45 kg), indigo is the cheapest at Rs.3000..then spicejet at Rs3750, followed by air india then Jet airways being the most expensive.

AirIndia offers members of its FlyingReturns program an additional baggage allowance as listed on page 12 of this FR brochure: AirIndia - FlyingReturns

FlyingReturnsClub: WeightConceptFlights - PieceConceptFlights
TheMaharajahClub: 20kgs - 1 piece up to 23 Kgs
GoldenEdgeClub: 20kgs - 1 piece up to 23 Kgs
SilverEdgeClub: 15kgs - 1 piece up to 23 Kgs
FlyingReturns Base: 10kgs - NIL

As even the base membership gets 10kg excess allowance, AI would seem to be a good option as well.

PS: If the PNR doesn't have the FFP # listed, the excess baggage allowance is revoked.

I don't know why Jet makes it so hard - they should just have it as a bookable fare online... real fools if you ask me
