Nah, but it is going crazily slow for me. AND the purchase takes ages to go through now too.

Awaiting massive devaluation of Avios redemptions via Iberia on the 25th !!!!!!!!!

It seems that they are actively promoting people to do this even if they are not planning to fly, which is what has been mentioned in their communications to people. Seems like a nice way to mess with revenue management, but I don't see why they would close accounts for people that don't fly. They specifically mention that it's ok for people to do that.

THEOBCMAN, p78

It's 9000 per ticket, not per segment

If the customers transfer these Avios to their BA Executive Club account, they will have a negative balance in the Iberia Plus programme, as those Avios wouldn’t have been spent by the date mentioned above.

Doesnt anyone worry about this ?

Is there some economic way this promotion actually makes sense for Iberia? People buy up all the lowest fare buckets early, and Iberia knows a bunch of them will be no-shows. So they overbook more than usual and sell more seats at higher prices. And some of the bonus Avios will be forfeited if not redeemed in time. Still a windfall for us if it really turns out as it seems it will; I'm just thinking about it from their perspective.

Per the same statement "you can only redeem the Avios awarded through this promotion through the Iberia Plus programme."

You would be redeeming through BAEC...so no.

I noted on all my email receipts that the credit card charge displays 0.00. Does this mean payment did not go through? I did receive a ticket number but thought it looks strange.

Credit card charge ************XXXX x1 0.00

Total Price27.73 USD

That just means there was no extra fee for paying with credit card.

NVM. You always have to search for Roundtrip for them. It won't yield any result for one-way.

--------------------------------------------------------
Is it normal for Iberia.com not show any partner award availability other than Iberia, British, and AA?
I checked award availability for Cathay, Srilankan, and none of them are showing any availability although they are clearly shown in BA and Qantas.

Sisyphus1carus Jun 22, 2018 3:47 pm

So the complication is that we will have to redeem via Iberia and not move them over to BAEC to spend there as your Iberia account will deduct the 90,000 Avios from you Iberia balance and even leave you in -90k ‘debt’ to them.

Whether that just means you have to basically throw away your Iberia ccount and never use it again OR if they’ll try to recoup the cost somehow I don’t know.

BUT if you want to be able to keep your Iberia account (as in not have a -90K balance) or any Avios in it then you will have to spemnd the Avios via Iberia and not via BAEC.

If you have 100K in it now, get 90K through this promo, transfer that 90K to BAEC, leaving 100K still in your Iberia account – Iberia will actually deduct the 90K from your balance of 100K on December 1st as you haven’t spent 90K through Iberia……as transferring does not count as spending.

So basically you have to know you want to use 90K via Iberia (not BAEC).

So, what can we do with 90K on Iberia ?!

Ooooh, brutal if anyone hasn't bought as a sequence of one-ways.
That was quite clear.
Hopefully OP did buy as a series of one ways, just didn't write it as such.
